šŸ¤” NEW HERE? šŸ¤”
Hi! My name is Christopher Odd and I’ve been playing video games on the internet for a few years. I really enjoy a variety of games but generally lean towards games with a unique and engaging story (Bioshock, The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077, The Last of Us etc), strategy/roguelike games (XCOM 2 War of the Chosen, Darkest Dungeon, etc), and RPGs (Dark Souls, Dragon Age, etc). Of course, I am always looking for great indie games too!

XCOM 2 is the sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the 2012 award-winning strategy game of the year.

Earth has changed. Twenty years have passed since world leaders offered an unconditional surrender to alien forces. XCOM, the planet’s last line of defense, was left decimated and scattered. Now, in XCOM 2, the aliens rule Earth, building shining cities that promise a brilliant future for humanity on the surface, while concealing a sinister agenda and eliminating all who dissent from their new order.

Only those who live at the edges of the world have a margin of freedom. Here, a force gathers once again to stand up for humanity. Always on the run, and facing impossible odds, the remnant XCOM forces must find a way to ignite a global resistance, and eliminate the alien threat once and for all.

XCOM ON THE RUN: Take command of the Avenger, an alien supply craft converted to XCOM’s mobile headquarters. New open-ended gameplay lets you decide where to guide your strike team, how to grow popular support, and when to combat enemy counter-operations.
RECRUIT RESISTANCE FIGHTERS: Five soldier classes, each with its own skill tree, let you create specific soldiers for your tactical plan.
TACTICAL GUERRILLA COMBAT: New gameplay systems offer more tactical flexibility in combat. Use concealment to ambush enemy patrols. Loot enemies for precious gear and artifacts. Rescue VIPs and save fallen comrades by carrying them to the extraction point.

  1. Since we've seen both in various places now, I'm going to point out that if you can get it, Area Suppression and Covering Fire is a hell of a combination. Suppress a whole clot of enemies, penalize their aim, and then if they do literally anything, you shoot them with massive bonuses and slap on another aim penalty. Basically completely shuts down a whole group for a turn, in exchange for probably your entire magazine, but also does a lot of damage.

  3. I honestly think that you might want to keep the cannon breakthrough. Sure, maybe reduce it from +2 damage to +1. But you slowed down your research near the beginning of the game for that. If you can set yourself behind early and still manage to get through to the end, that buff should feel good.

  4. Odd said "We can't pull the Assassin, can we? no." when Collux was in the extraction circle.
It made me think about how cool would a Metal Gear mod be? If you could lure Advent forces into the extraction circle then Fulton them out to capture them…

  5. Hope you're having the best recovery possible and lot's of thanks for the work recording in advance!!! 😁 It's quite scary how much the missions change just by the appearance of big players in the enemy side, I love it. This series is awesome, so super thanks for every aspect of it!! 😁

Just got off a call with Volk, of all people…

    (yawns)

We’re clear on this – we are NOT friends, not when members of our respective factions still make snide remarks about literally eating each other, when they think we can’t hear them. But at least he acknowledges the need to maintain an open channel of communication, even if it’s through XCOM. I was finally able to convey my thanks to Dragunova for rescuing the Commander. We have a common enemy, and now we have a common ally.

I also brought up the topic of the Assassin and shared with Volk everything we knew about her. He, in turn, spoke of another similar being, a male, that was tormenting the Reapers. He had little information apart from the fact this male Chosen did not prefer melee attacks as the Assassin does, but pledged to share additional intel in the future. This nemesis was apparently the reason that the Reapers could not safely traverse many sparsely-populated areas of the Australian continent. Despite already withdrawing into the wilderness to survive, they were being slain even where Advent’s surveillance cameras and drones could not reach.

And then there is EXALT. An invasion-era group of human malcontents that would have warred with their own kind with or without us. Now that aliens and hybrids are here to stay, they’re still disturbingly eager to throw their lives away instead of using their combat skills to aid the Resistance. Should humanity win this war, they will not look kindly upon traitors. Should the Elders win, I do not see them being treated differently from the rest of their kind.

Do they not see that they are like dogs, the devoted servitor creatures humans raise as guards, who are rewarded with table scraps and belly rubs, not government positions?

    Betos, logging off.

  7. I did one one these missions on a map with the lost and a skirmisher who had forward operator (get an action point each time a new pod is triggered). I was able to tag 10 crates in 1 turn because of that perk.
