I created a REALISTIC GOKU from DRAGON BALL Z in Photoshop!

Dragon Ball Z is one of the first animes that I fell in love with since I was a little kid. For quite some time now, I have wanted to create a realistic photo manipulation of one of my favorite characters all around – Son Goku. Today, I will create a realistic Goku in Photoshop! I felt using cosplay photos would be cheating, so everything is done using standard stock images from scratch.

Please let me know your thoughts in the comments because I am really excited to create more realistic anime photo manipulations of other popular characters.

Hope you like this video and as always – Enjoy Creating!

  1. As a portrait artist, I can say there is another way to "paint" in hair, which is not one strand of hair at a time. Though I have to say you did an amazing job on the hair. It is not wrong, there is just a different way available to you. The easier/quicker way is to use blocks of colours which are the shape of the hair, starting with the darkest first, then lighter areas (smaller blocks of colour) keeping the darker where it should be darker, then adding hair strands on the top most layer. I never paint single strands until the last layer of my painting, even if that is a digital painting I am doing. I hope this makes sense. Perhaps it is easier to see how it can be done differently. There are loads of tutorials from artists showing how to paint hair. Hope this helps. I have been really enjoying your videos. I like to see art and photos combined so this has been a really good video to watch. Thanks for sharing. T x

  2. Only thing i wonder about is super saiyan's aura should give him more glow on his entire body, which is why his clothes is more yellow in super saiyan forms by the way

  3. Is there any way to take a photo of a person and using filter gallery/camera raw filter or something else, to make them look like an anime character? Or is that only possible through digital illustration?

  6. You do a great job in general and you always give the perfect atmosphere and on a structural level to the composition. I would just like to make two observations, one of which concerns the anatomy of the body and the second the environment in relation to the character.
Regarding the anatomy, the levator scapula, i.e. the nerve complex of the neck, joins the head unorthodoxly and forms an intense bright area in combination with the hair of the character, which has an impact on the whole composition. It is intensely bright!

The second part concerns the limitation of the light, on the right hand of the character and specifically in the armpit.
The restriction of light there does not allow the atmosphere to breathe, just as the body is not smoothly separated from the environment.

Anyway, your work in general is very good! Keep going strong!
