I got my switch out of storage and wanted to play violet again after all this time but I cant even get my switch to connect to the internet to update and it's killing me.
So, I was just watching this while playing Violet (I picked it up not that long ago)
I see a Wiglett, and I wanted to see if it was shiny (Because my Pokémon didn't attack it in auto-battle. Although, I'm pretty sure it just went undrground to hide shortly, causing my Pokémon to not auto-battle it), I didn't manage to get into a battle with it, but then a Wattrel lands. Now, I hadn't seen Wattrel very much (I had caught a single Wattrel in a Tera Raid, and I'm pretty sure that I have seen some in the wild aswell, but I don't think I've really battled any in the wild before this), so I didn't have a clear memory of it's color, but I did think it seemed a bit too light, so I sent out my Pokémon to auto-battle it since I was aware of the fact that they will refuse to battle a shiny… They refused to battle it, so I entered battle… And it WAS INDEED A SHINY, I then threw the one Quick Ball that I had in my bag from picking up some of the random items on the ground, and I caught it. That was unexpected…

Unfortunately, I don't consider gift shiny Pokémon as encounters, and because of that reason I've only found 4 shiny Pokémon in my 20 years of playing the main series Pokémon games. I've never been able to find a shiny Pokémon while doing all "confirmed guaranteed shiny hunting methods." Every single 1 of my shiny Pokémon encounters have been completely random encounters only when im not expecting to find a shiny Pokémon.
I dont know how you got the 4/392 at the beginning of the Shiny charm segment.
Outbreaks are 1/512 with shiny rate 3, 60+ defeated, and shiny charm. Not the 1/161 you advise in Part 4.
Also, the special shiny events are a flat 1/200 rate.
