This is a variant of the "disposable woman" trope, and it's just as infuriating.
You can point to quite a few Pixar, DreamWorks, Disney movies where if you only listen to the wisdom of the father figure, not only would there not be a movie but everybody would literally live happily ever after and the father would live.
I wonder if it's in the actual coding that when you remove the egg hat for any reason it is just gone forever. Not walking on eggshells, just walking with eggshells on you, and you may never remove them lest you be damned for all eternity.
