Oh yay, it's back! I actually enjoy this one quite a bit
As far as I remember, you can put spells in each of the 4 slots. So you don't have to replace your expert spell when equiping another one. ^^
Unless something's changed, you aren't limited to one defense/expert move and can put anything anywhere in your slots. The tags have mechanical meaning with certain emblems, but otherwise you're free
