I am Israel's Lady in Red and this is how I survived Nova festival massacre

She became known as the lady in red and was one of the most hauntingly iconic images from the October 7 massacre.

A young woman, running for her life, fear etched on her face as twisted Hamas gunmen targeted the Nova rave festival in the early hours slaughtering at least 340 and taking 40 people hostage.

The last time she was seen, she wore a red shawl over her shoulders, and was surrounded by dozens of other terrified festival goers frantically running across a desert for safety, before climbing into the back of a car.

For weeks the world has wondered if she made it, whether she was alive or dead.

Now MailOnline has found her and, for the first time, Vlada Patapov – a 25-year-old Ukrainian-born mother of one – tells her story.

  1. It's heartbreaking for me, on how I support equality beyond every culture, religion, gender. I felt so betrayed because I can see myself being in this festival just enjoying, without wondering be killed by these people who you prayed be treated humanly.

  2. I have been wondering why it seemed to take the Israeli army so long to arrive at the places where the attacks were being carried out. Some people have reported waiting for 10 hours for help, despite being in touch with authorities via their phones.

  3. And she left Ukraine to make Aliyah to be safe. Israel, do not stop looking for the rest of them Lord send your hours, foxes and lions to get each one back. When you are done, let this NEVER happen again.

  4. Had a few tears watching that, all very confronting. Put all the media hype aside for and against, this is a young person who innocently went out dancing and evil people with guns came to that party to kill as many people as possible. Shove your Free, Free Palestines where the sun doesn't shine. No doubt the Palestinian people have been victims as well. But there was never an excuse for the atrocities committed on October 7. Never.
