Spanj. After killing the shroud root, you can fast travel out of there. You didn’t need to die 27.5 times lol.
Edit: 4 seconds after I posted this you did in fact fast travel.
Probably not the only one but I have turned down the rain to rare, if I want every 5 minutes I'd be outside. Decent system and I'm hoping they expand it to include snow in the mountains, stronger gusty winds and maybe fog or mist in mornings.
You can speed up the gathering side of building by tweaking the pickaxe damage in other worlds with altars at or near to specific resources

Yep wells are broken for me too however Instead of waiting for hot fix, I logged into another world and grabbed a well from a higher characters base. I then went back into my world and placed the well. It takes about a day to generate water however it does generate water, and water is so very important in the game that you can’t go without it. When the fix comes I will delete the well, but until then I have some water for potions, seeds, and drinks.
The game has cats in it? That moves it up a couple notches on my list.
For my new runthrough I copied you and decided to put my base at the same house. We must think alike though, as where to put everything (staircase, farm, crafting) are in the same places! Also, use the Axe on those critter nests, not the pick. A scrappy axe destroys nests in 2 shots at most.
Wells aren't unilaterally broken, there are a few wells in various locations that do still work. I'm thinking that maybe the devs nerfed them a bit, as building your own well can still be of great benefit. My advice is to look seriously into getting goats. Although you still need water for some seed recipes, you won't need to drink it once you have goats.
Shroud creatures hit for more damage.
Maybe it's down to the shroud attribute, neither physical or magic.
Taming might be answer, namely goats! =)

I've noticed the same problem with the wells, so I fast tracked a bit to get the carpenters masonry tools so I could build my own well, and the ones I built at my home are working.

Spanj really she wasn't a Girl Scout.?.. oh wait they only do cookies sorry, I still have nightmares about all those cookie drives. ( Sorry I forgot about that, I taught all my daughters how to fend for themselves out in the wilderness or anywhere else. )
Look you can make a Flame Alter, grab some stuff to make a string or 2 grab some wood and make a workbench set the flame alter set the work bench repair everything then just remove the Flame Altar when ready. I do this before going into any shroud area or major NPC area.
Don't worry even the old workbench will disappear after a restart unless you want to pick it up. And wood arrows will kill these guys and you can carry a lot of arrows, put them on your second toolbar then they don't take up inventory space and you don't lose them if you die. If you have to have flint then take a day or two and mine the flint, since you have the Hunter she can make flint arrows if you have the supplies.
Now the Well thats in the Old Fort when you first come into the game should be a working well. You can get 15 water from it daily or more, there is around a total of 5 to 10 water scattered around that fort to. From that well in the fort just go down in that shroud area next to it and break all those containers next to the stairs. And in the back of that hall.
Get some copper and get better weapons and armour from the Blacksmith till you can carry at least 2 for those areas that have a ton of enemies. ( Or turn those enemie settings back to default ) Or you could go back and get another of that one sword to carry around with you. It does respawn after a few days or when you restart the game.
And I never carry a wand any more. And yes they can be very powerful just I just never use them.
Stinging nettle can be found as well as Copper and Clay and the like can be had from behind the farmers vault.
If Wells are not working then verify your files. I have never ever had a well not working unless it wasn't suppose to. And that well in that Village doesn't work, never did. Plus you left a Healing jar or potion in the Bookshelf in that one building.
Will keep watching, keep up the good fight. Have enjoyed watching you muck about in the game. Can hardly wait till you get into the Frozen souls of the mountains Update. Weapons go to level 40 in those areas and you go to level 35. Lots and lots of new stuff in the game.
