  1. I'm going to leave these tips for anybody who has not heard them yet:

    1. If you don't want to clear a whole map looking for "secrets," you can open up your map (U) and look for the notable events in that area. Usually if it's worth getting (stat increases or attribute points), it will have a plus (+) at the bottom of the icon (skull, sack, tent, etc)

    2. If you're playing in early access, you should have 300 premium currency, and it is widely recommended that you purchase at lease the currency tab in the microtransaction store. This helps a ton with storage.

    3. Currency in this game does not refer to gold. Currency refers to the orbs you pick up (alchemy, transmutation, exalted, divine.), and the "base" denomination is usually exalted orbs. If you plan on trading, most items are priced starting at 1 exalted orb, and the trading website (PoE2 Trade) is where most go to trade.

    4. Crafting in this game can be very overwhelming, and can take a lot of time to understand completely. Any one piece of equipment can have 3 prefixes and 3 suffixes, and you can check to see how many an item has by holding alt when hovering over an item. This will show if a mod is a prefix or suffix (left side of window), and it will also show the tier rolled for that stat (right side of window). Generally speaking, the higher the tier, the better the stat, and tiers can roll anywhere from T1 to T13.

4a. If you don't plan on trading, the currency is best used to modify current gear you have in order to ideally make them better for your build.

4b. The four main currency orbs you use when crafting are Transmutation (normal -> magic), Augmentation (magic with 1 mod -> magic with 2 mods), Regal (magic with 1or 2 mods -> rare with 2 or 3 mods), and finally, Exalted (rare with 2 or 3 mods -> 1 additional mod [max 6]).

4c. Most times, it's best to get prefixes on weapons that increase physical damage as most skills convert a percentage of physical damage into whatever element the skill is tied to. For armours and equipment, elemental resistance suffixes are the go-to until you reach the max resistance (75%).

    5. As most people have commented, unique drops aren't the most exciting or viable early game, but they get better later. With that said, if you are looking to find more uniques or currency orbs, there is a suffix on most items that give "x% increased rarity of items found," also known as magic find (MF). At the moment, MF is pretty necessary, but most assume it will get tweaked with future updates.

    6. If you feel like you're slowing down and not keeping up with bossing or map clearing, you may need to upgrade your equipment. A nice rule of thumb is to hover over your equipment, find the item level, and try to keep it around lower than 10 levels from your current level (example: level 29 helm on a level 38 character is fine if carried by the stats, but bigger level gaps can make progression a drag).

    7. You can go to the Hooded One to refund passive points at the cost of gold. This is a great tool to utilize if you want to mess around with your build if you find yourself plateauing later or if you just want to try something else.

    8. Ultimately, you should just do what you find fun. If you see a skill you think looks really cool, go with that and try to build something around it within the passive tree. Most current "meta" builds were made because someone experimented and found something that works.

I could go on and on, and I'm sure there are others who will (hopefully) add to this comment. If anybody has any questions, I'll be coming back to this comment to answer them to the best of my abilities.

  2. Some general tips and recommendations that may or may not already have been commented:
    – Higher Level Flasks have higher base stats and can roll better modifier values if crafted into magic
    – Ice Strike or Tempest Flurry are great alternatives to default attack and just feel great to use (Ice feels better and freezes, Flurry attacks superfast and shocks reliably)
    – Some skills are not meant for damage or are just aren't good for clear Killing Palm/Siphoning Strike)
    – Support gems make a world of difference if used well on their respective skills
    – Tempest Bell is ultra-synergistic with elemental attacks to it
    – Unique Items are unique in their modifiers and effects, not better than well-rolled rares. Elon Mask has no idea that a lv. 52 unique can outperform literally any other item in a build fitting it, what a pushover "gamer" =)
    – The best stats to look out for on rare items are flat damage/attack speed, life, resistances and attributes for the campaign.
    – You missed a boss named Balbala in Traitor's Passage. She will drop the key item to your first Trial of Ascendancy!
    – Don't be afraid to test all kinds of skills, but also make sure to level up existing main skills after every 2-3 gem levels (otherwise they are significantly weaker than they could be)
    Enjoy!

  3. The red snowflake icon means they are weak against cold. Cold monk btw is one of the best monk builds. Mix some lightning in there and you can explode entire screens of enemies.
