  1. This is brilliant to see and could give me some hope. My mini poodle is terrified of stairs as well, but my problem is that I don't have a staircase like this to practice on. I've only got 2 steps at home, and since a puppy, no matter how many times I tried to teach him to put paws on steps, he would just freeze and jump instead. It's like he doesn't know what he should do with his paws. When a friend moved to a new house, they had 10 steep stairs that he would try and jump down from ,and instead of letting him get hurt (there was concrete at the bottom) we put a plank of timber down so he could use that. The other problem is that you can see how uncoordinated he is going up the stairs, and I believe therein lies the problem. He just doesn't seem to know where or how to place his feet as he always trips on the way up. They have since moved, and there are no staircases where I live, so this makes it even harder to try and teach him.
