  1. 40 years ago my grandmother bought my father a Remington 700 in .30-06. About ten years later it was stolen. A few years after that I got my first (paying) job, and bought my father a replacement. The steel was as good as the first, but the wood was noticeably less 'fine'. It sits in my rifle rack today, and one of my sons will inherit it, but I wouldn't buy Remington again. A damned shame, for such an iconic American company.

  2. My favorite in the woods deer rifle, a Remington 760 game master in .270 Winchester, is the only one I have a nick name for and that’s Lorraine. If you’ve watched open speason you’ll know why. As for my carry gun, the S&W hoodlum smiter 9.

  3. I LIKE THE MUSGRAVE MAUSER …but it fails to carry the excellence with the capture screws and original bottom metal…much better options are available in keeping with the refinement of the rest of the rifle.

  4. Mine were all pre named before I got them. North of seventy so am too old to try and remember a bunch of new names plus it would probably confuse them if I were to try to change their names at this point. So I will continue to call all of them Gun unless one pi$$e$ me off then it’s name becomes POS until it gets adjusted and makes me happy again

  5. Couldn't agree more with Leupold and Remington quality issues; being from Europe, USA made products have a certain swagger and gun stores know it, so the prices are even higher. Unfortunately, there is no real reason to buy from this two brands right now.

  6. that lion hunting video is scary as hell! that PH is tough as nails just standing his ground and taking those two shots! i can't imagine how it must feel to get charged by lion at that proximity😳

  7. Thanks for answering my Leupold question Desert Dog! I have pretty much decided to get a Trijicon. I’ve been a long time Leupold fan as well but don’t want to take a chance on durability. I’ve seen those Rokslide tests where even the least expensive Trijicon scopes pass with no problem. Have a great weekend!

  8. Hey Desert Dog, on your safari express with that Trijicon scope, on 1x can you see your open sights in the scope? I have a 375 Ruger, African and want to set it up with a Trijicon AccuPoint 1-6×24, but I am concerned because when I mounted a vx6 Leupold 2-12×42, on 2x I can see the sights in the bottom of the scope. I have the same issue when I mounted the 2-12 on my m70 with sights and a 24in barrel. In both cases I was using standard med height rings. So you think this will also happen with the trijicon? Thank you! Appreciate all your videos!

  9. I have used Leupold scopes for 40 years. I would agree the newer models have been of questionable performance. The tracking on the new scopes seems not to be accurate,it seems to require a shot or two to have the reticle to stabilize…. I now only trust the Boone and Crocket Reticle, and then shoot it a few times to make sure the reticle sets………
I have a few Nightforce SHV scopes that are accurate, but they are heavy…

  10. Must set my timer for 30 mins and stop watching 😂. Unfortunately I haven’t given any of my rifles nicknames, maybe I should give it some thought. To avoid divorce from my loving wife of 41 years I will not be having your likeness tattooed on my 65 year old chest. I shoot 3D archery for fun, I’m much better with a rifle and would much rather have my .416 REM when in the company of a lion. My heart goes out to the fellow facing his demise. Fabulous letters. 🇬🇧
