HFY is a story/series that takes a “human element” in either humanity or an “other” (race/species or object) that exists in a “setting” (future or other world/universe) with varying levels of culture, technology, society and history that help show in some shape or form the potential good or bad for humanity’s race/culture. In These stories Humans are often referred to as Human, Humanity, Deathworlder, Hellwolder in reference to the human planet of origin , Earth. This planet is seen by most of the universe as a place where only death and chaos can survive.

Humans Are Space Orcs (HASO) or Humans Are (Fantasy Race) Are used as a guide when writing.
In these Stories we normally View humans like the other races view orcs in a Fantasy Novel. We (Humans) share the same characteristics and personalities as orcs. Humans are normally treated as the outsiders and barbarians. Humans tend to be underestimated as well in these stories. Unlike Humanity Feck Yea , these don’t always put a positive spin on humanshumanity sometimes looking at the darker side of human and humanity from the perspective of aliens.

  1. Capsaicin is a bio-chemical weapon. Plants tried to use it to protect their seeds from herbivores with mixed success. Humans and some other animals used it to pull an intestinal blitzkrieg on parasites. Some humans bred the ghost pepper to keep elephants away from their villages and then things spiraled from there.

  2. Not terribly original, this one. Quite a few folks have written other stories about humans and our peculiar taste for consuming “chemical toxins.” Seems that many aliens shudder to think we humans consume things like hot peppers and drink alcohol for enjoyment while such chemicals are deadly poisons throughout the known universe. 😮 Where do ya suppose these aliens obtained millions of Earth dollars? Legitimately or counterfeit?

  14. It is said that during the Italian Mercenary wars, sometimes the side with the inferior mercenary composition just gave up.
    The "show up" payment was big enough. They did not want to also pay the "combat bonus" on top of the reparations for the other side.
    The mercenaries loved it. It was money – plus opportunity for raiding – without the dangers of a pitched battle.

  20. I would assume the alien technology was good enough to create undetectable forged money. At least until the serial numbers were checked.

    Hitler once spoke with the Swiss Prime Minister noting that Switzerland only had a standing army of 500,000 men. He asked what the Swiss would do if he invaded with an army of 1,000,000. The Swiss Prime Minister responded: Order each soldier to fire twice. Hitler never invaded Switzerland.

  26. God I wish hfy authors would stop using capsaicin as some sort of super weapon. It is barely even toxic. Peppers evolved to use it specifically because they want their peppers eaten by birds to spread the seeds, but not by mammals whose digestion would destroy them. It is literally made to be eaten. The amount you would have to consume in order to die is insane, it only feels bad.
