  2. Not the biggest Jim fan but he speaks plainly and with reason. I trust he believes what he is saying.
Meanwhile Phil is so easy to see through… but he got everyone played with his "we all play" bs

  3. Found this great post:

Please Phil, tell us how well you’ve done taking over the Xbox division and spending a whole generation preparing for this one. Tell us all about it as you blame your bad stable of first-party games, lack of first-party games despite multiple other acquisitions, and are apparently a massive, multi-billion dollar company who’s already purchased one major publisher (and all its properties) and just can’t build good internal studios, so you need to buy other successful ones.

Game Pass has been a huge win for him and Xbox, but outside of Game Pass I’m struggling to see how he’s much of an improvement over Matrick. He’s more charismatic and personable, but when it comes to running the Xbox division he doesn’t really seem to have done much better of a jobs outside of optics.

Not hating on Microsoft, just disappointed. They’ve got fantastic in-house IP’s that they either don’t use or underutilize with poor launches (sup Halo), they bought a ton of mid-range developers last generation that mostly announced games at the start of this generation and…have gone all Crackdown 3 since then, and then even bought Bethesda and gained access to all their developers and properties. There’s such a wealth of opportunities and Microsoft absolutely has the financial strength to support a strong first party lineup. I’m all about giving devs the time they need to finish games without cruch, but this seems like a failure of planning more than anything else.

Xbox just leaning on that big-daddy-Microsoft money to buy their way to competition because they, apparently, can’t compete on their own. Truly embarassing.

  4. Microsoft buy studios then they disperse or get liquidated or make bad choice due to management. Sony buy or partner with studios and they make better games than what they previously did.

  5. I've never heard so much crap in all my life just accepted the deal going through you can't get away lying to the CMA Microsoft lawyers are all over it if you do not believe me go through the CMA report it contradicts everything what PlayStation does 🤔🤔🤔🤔

  6. God of War Ragnarok is really something the best and the most righteous love adn family story i ever played. And I'm playing more than 6h/day since Baldur's Gate and Tales of the Sword Coast expansion 1998. That satisfaction and straight romances and healthy successful happy families we expect to enjoy with in our free time for our money. This is justice and this is the reason why we are playing not stupid competitive first person shooters and multiplayer where our precious time depends on others patience knowledge and their free time. Only if public was educated little more what they learned at their schools when can spend time with Elden Ring, looks like games from 2011. so Elden Ring is not worthy of our time in 2022. God of War Ragnarok game of decade

  7. Steve Jobs got it so right about Microsoft all that time ago, and the same can be said today. They lack vision, they can’t run the studios they’ve got now, so goodness knows how they think they will be able to manage a massive company like Activision who is the next biggest publisher after Microsoft in the gaming sphere. That’s all you need to know about this acquisition, Microsoft just went after Activision Blizzard because of its sheer size and the amount of IP it owns past and present, enough to pad out Gamepass!

  8. MS just wants to make a games as a service subscription 1st and foremost. Already clear what that approach does to games. Once they fuck up the industry enough you damn well better believe cost of gamepass and digital games sky rockets. MS doesn't care what casualties happen along the way. Don't care what IPs get thrown out, won't care what developer studios need to be shaved off, don't care what it does to quality of games or the the prices of games. Just full throttle Gamepass, Gamepass, Gamepass, Gamepass. Sick of hearing about Gamepass. We will be here in the end to say we told you so.

  9. it isn't even about COD cuz i don't care that much… like you said there are people that love the franchise and the gaming community will have to suffer. ok… now they want activision. then… what? they'll get EA and take Fifa or Apex and so on… fuck Microsoft. GOW Ragnarok, was the best game i've ever played and it got me so hyped about Spiderman 2… i just can't wait…

  10. The acquisition will sadly go through because of Microsoft's deep pockets and the inept old folks geriatric ppl in the regulatory entities. It is sad to say but Microsoft removed all choices on PC for other OS and they'll do the same with gaming. Truly an evil antitrust company from top to bottom. Only idiots don't see or understand this and there's no people stupider than Xbox fanboys in the whole gaming landscape.

  11. I was glad to hear some intelligent conversation about blizzard/activision beyond “OMG call of duty monopoly failzor qq my franchise… my life… is ruined.” I doubt that they would block PlayStation from call of duty considering the number of units of lost sales. I think you don’t need much to win the argument that this is bad. Merging large competitors does not work out well for consumers. They shouldn’t have let activation merge with blizzard IMO, now this is doubling down on reducing competition. Everyone is always like, “corporations are evil.” It’s a bit hyped. I am not one to jump on the band wagon. But in the case of Microsoft, not many companies have been broken up by US federal government for abusing their monopoly powers. So… if there is an evil corporation to watch, it would be this one. If we need a tie breaker in the argument, it’s their anti competitive track record.

  12. @5:20 he is just plain scared. Let me ask you if Sony was to purchase Activision and Blizzard would you think they wouldn't hesitate to make Call of Duty Exclusive to PS5? The fact is Sony has been lackluster and just doesn't want to compete. Look at all the FPS IP Sony owns. Where have those IP gone? Sony has been all about exclusivity just look at Final Fantasy 7 remake and The Avengers.

  13. The problem with markets is the casual hive mind, the people who indulge in a market but are just casual, there is a hardcore base in essentially every market and we know where the market should go and who is the best example PlayStation is the best mainline gaming brand but there is a mass casual hive mind that's out there that can pull your hobby where it should not go and hold it back, Xbox has second best hardware imagine having to play a game on an Xbox controller and there was no other option your experience is worse and could be because the casuals who are just in our hobby as the hardcore audience has it to where gaming is this way

  14. Everyone seems to be trying to find a "good" guy and "bad" guy in deals between multi billion and multi trillion dollar companies. There isn't one. Jim Ryan is doing a job, Phil Spencer is doing a job. I don't blame Sony for blocking a deal for their own interests anymore than I blame Microsoft attempting to buy a company for their own and Activision's interests. Ultimately should the deal be blocked Xbox and Microsoft will be fine and should the deal pass PlayStation will be just fine. PlayStation won't be going anywhere and neither would Call of Duty.

  15. I'm not a cod fan. Nor am I into consule wars. But I don't like the fact that Microsoft are buying up major studios like Bethesda and making starfield, elder scrolls xbox only. Then out right buying out the owner of cod. This is anti-consumer. Work on making great games with the studios yu already have. I mostly play on ps5 I'm not into gamepass or liveservice games. If this goes through xbox who's to stop them from buying out ubisoft or cdpr to feed to gamepass.
