HUGE FF14 Drama – World First Raiders CHEATING

Well yes of course we had to talk about it. HUGE DRAMA in FF14s Ultimate race to world first. With bans, players shamed into deleting their characters and Square Enix doing something they haven’t done in FF14s history.

  1. Good evening lovelies – This video is coming a little later than planned after Mike was dealing with family stuff last week. In this video we'll be doing a deep dive into the recent Ultimate RWF drama in FF14 and the issue of addons – we've put this into context not only for FF players but also if you're playing other MMOs like WoW.

And yes we're aware of the Gshade drama of course – Mike should be recording that tonight or in the morning so we'll have that up for you as well very soon. – Chris

  2. Gaming seppukus, really?

But then again. Addons don't let you zoom out more. That's more in the realm of modifying the game itself. and that's a whole another beast. But I totally get them, the inability to zoom out more makes me not enjoy otherwise great games (ESPECIALLY in arpg genre… I can't even count how many times I died to something killing me from far off-screen in likes of PoE)

I've used addons in FF14 myself when I was still playing, but only cosmetic ones (a custom hairstyle here, a different face texture there, some ENB-like thing so the game looks less like a 2005 game) and all I can say in my defense is… if you made your game look the part, I wouldn't have to do that. But I ain't making my eyes bleed over a dumb policy

  3. Zoom hacks to see more of the boss encounter than intended is one thing. But as a WoW player I find it silly that dmg meters are frowned upon so much in FF14. How are you supposed to know if you are improving at your rotation on a character? Definitely don't flame anyone else for it, but getting banned forever for trying to improve yourself is just dumb. I get that its difficult to tune bosses, but it also seems like kind of a snobby mentality to say, "Our game design is perfect, so you shouldn't need any third party addons to help you beat it." Like its cool to see the devs play their own game and test it themselves, but they also aren't the best players in the world, so I don't really care about how they are able to beat it without any third party tools. Thats like saying, you would rather see coaches or gms play in the superbowl, instead of the players who have trained to play at that level.

  4. The Devs should lock the files, have the game check for files added that should not be there on launch, or they should stop crying for not making it impossible to install and use addons. Devs fault or lack of will to do this.

  5. I can fully understand someone not wanting people to use addons for a game you make but to include reasoning as "oh well us people who make the game and know exactly how the fight works to each and every inch beat it so its doable." Is kind of a bs reason. Dont want us to use addons sure i hear ya, its your game…but i mean cmon.

  6. I would like to see someone Do wow classic 40m raids and retail 25m raids with the whole raid having no addons. something I have never seen someone bring up with OG WoW is when it first came out there were no addons. Think about it try getting these scrubs to raid without addons most of them would wipe endlessly.

  7. FF14: No mods allowed
    Everyone: uses mods
FF14: Okay no mods allowed wink
    Everyone: continues to use mods

This is what happens when you have a company who is willingly look the other direction and not enforcing their own rules. The issue is that the game for MANY people wouldn't be fun without some of these mods, and the FF14 dev team know it. Hence why bans are not tossed around.

Letter of the Law Preach is just as guilty as these raiders.

  8. A side note about fflogs showing groups progress. The only way to see your progress there is by using ACT which is also a not allowed 3rd party tool. So technically everyone showing prog there are breaking TOS too 😂

  9. "No Third party tools" rules are stupid. Literally the GPU drivers come with third party tools that allow complete control over what games look like, allowing night levels to be lit like daylight etc. Virtually all mice/keyboard companies intend their hardware to be used with their software for custom key assignments, macro's etc.

And that's not even getting into overlays etc.
There is so much stuff you can do without it being in any way detectable that making rules against it is just dumb. It's generally better to do it like WOW, allow addons and then moderate what they can do. Which is why we don't have automation in wow.

Might as well try to ban third party guides.
Frankly I don't even play games without some sort of Mod-Support anymore.

Funny enough one of my first Wow addons was an addon that allowed me to zoom out way more.

  10. only third party content I evr used was in WoW years ago in vanilla. It basically told me where to go for quests. Since this is back before they implemented that themselves.

  11. Give that 'apology letter' writer a corporate job! Sounds just like all of those stupid non-apologies. "We used tools because we THOUGHT/FELT those dirty westerners were using them and we have to even the playing field!" OR, you could it right, stop trying to overcompensate for your crap playing and let the people who ARE using tools (if you were right) get punished while you sit back safe and content.

  12. if I cant beat a boss with a group of randoms(I'm lonely and have no friends) using only ingame chat in a couple hours without any use of third party tool INCLUDING DISCORD using a PS4 then the boss encounter is impossible. Don't @ me.

  13. 9:40 This is the kind of shit that I loved as a kid. But who the fuck has time for this nowadays? As a NORMAL working class person. Streamers are getting paid for this shit, they can do this crap however much they want. I'm glad WoW streamlined a lot of stuff. I simply don't have the time for Classic WoW anymore. They did the right thing in making everything more accessible, the leveling faster, etc.

  14. I wouldn't be surprised if the Wow exodus really DID give a big boost to cheating add-ons. But they made their own choice. Any add-on that isn't cosmetic is cheating. I don't care if you do it on your own time but if this is competitive, fuck em.

  15. I’m sorry, in100% agree that those cheated should be banned and lose all loot. But the ones in their party that didn’t use any and had no idea cheats were being used should lose nothing. Forcing them to delete their weapon was extremely wrong.
