  1. I know the new launcher is getting it's official release on the 7th Dec. I'm hoping they release it concurrently on Steam or (preferably) a day early so we're able to preload the game.
I'll be working that day, so it's no biggie for me. Just can't seem to find any info regarding the Steam launcher in their news articles.

Also, regarding the pessimistic attitudes regarding Vanguard, I have a feeling it's less a perception about CCP and more about the broader game industry's repeated failures having beat down on any optimism. It is short-sighted to paint Vanguard under this blanket perception, and I agree that their anger/pessimism is largely unproductive.

  2. Im enjoying these Benzie rants, they make me smile and i wished more people shared this same passion for games as we do. Keep up the great work and looking forward to more rants in the future 😂.

  3. Here is how I look at the whole Omega issue. I come from a day when you had to pay to play an MMO. If you didn't pay then there was no playing the game. The only game that I can recall that came out where you didn't have to pay for a subscription was guild wars. And to be honest while it looked pretty, it just didn't have the same MMO feel like Eve online or dark ages of Camelot did. I know today everybody wants free crap and expect everything to be free while at the same time having developers work their tail off to make your free crap. But nothing else in the world works this way. You can't go to the grocery store and expect to have free groceries and for farmers to work their tails off to give you free groceries. You pay for your groceries. You pay for your car, your phone, internet, TV, etc. Eve online is worth the subscription fee. It not only tells the developers that you like their game, but you're helping pay for future free updates. Eve online has delivered major updates and content throughout the years for free. If you don't like this business model, well then go play Eve echoes and prepare to bend over for a good jolly rogering.

  4. I'm hesitant to get into EVE Vanguard. I played Dust 514 on PlayStation at the time, I still play on console, and I don't have a viable PC/laptop setup. While I would love to play this game, I'm unsure CCP will stick with it. The feedback sounds good overall. I'm hopeful they do, so I can justify a possible investment. Unless it comes to console. I doubt it, but I can dream.

  5. You only fail once you stop trying. CCP has been sticking with the fps development ever since dust closed down, so it shows they're in it for the long haul.

Also, there's no nda on the first strike event so people can stream / make videos about it. I'm looking forward to all the content.

  6. Eve pilot for years, and Dust 514 gunner for the whole time it was out, I still have old Dust YT vids out there lol it was different with things that other games didn't do. to me this will bring both styles out and together. 07

  7. the reason people see Dust as a failure is probably because they’re comparing it to FPS live service games of today (in terms of lifespan) or comparing it to iconic FPS franchises of the time like CoD and Halo (in terms of status)

there were 3 years between Halo 2 and Halo 3; it was roughly the natural life cycle at the time. other FPS games saw decent success (killzone, black, crysis, etc), but most never broke through that “icon” barrier; that didn’t make them failures. granted, some (like dust) were limited by technology and couldn’t reach the level the devs wanted, so i guess you could say they failed that way 🤷‍♂️

i don’t have any ties to Dust, but i do think the dark cloud people hang over it is fairly simple to explain outside of “gaming is full of normies who love to bitch about everything”

  8. The last bit about looking to the future is absolutely right. In a world where games like Star Citizen actually release and deliver on their promises, other large scale multiplayer games are going to have to step their game up or get left behind. That can mean we'll see a lot of rapid innovation and competitiveness or we'll see a few new games dominate the market until they stagnate again.

  9. @captainbenzie according to the FAQ on the EVE Vanguard website there are no NDA, so you should be fine with streaming and/or make content playing the First Strike test.
