your assumption to use submarine to attack Chinese vassals in Taiwan strait showed you so out of touch to the real world, the average depth of the Taiwan strait is roughly 60 meters, the deepest is about 100 meters, no modern submarine can go through it, the rock in the bottom of sea may damage the submarine before it can attack the enemy.
Think about the Korea war back in 1950s, US has the best weapons, best army, air-force and navy, China has the worst weapon, China has no air-force, no navy, only has army, 3 years later, broke even, US and China signed cease-fire treat. Korea war is a forgotten war in US, nobody wants talk about.

It is not how China invade Taiwan, because Taiwan is one island province of China. And China no need to invade any of its own provinces. It is how the Taiwan will betray China step by step,and China have the rights to protect its own sovereign and not let any other country(such as the US)to interfere its own domestic affairs. China have the rights to protect its country integrity . Taiwan was is and will never be a country, that is one key questions.Pls check the UN consititution and you will know this clearly. Nobody will allow a betrayer province to happen inside its own country.
The mode of war is not unilaterally determined by the United States.
When China goes to war with the United States, China can choose to launch missiles against the United States, destroying American power plants, oil refineries, steel mills, chemical plants and waterworks. All American satellites and GPS in space will be targeted by China.
The United States can choose to use missiles to fight back and destroy various production facilities in China. Or escalate the scale of the war and have a nuclear war with China.
If the United States is afraid of a nuclear war with China and only attacks China with conventional warheads, then the United States needs to compete with China in terms of production capacity and capacity-building.
One thing I know war is business. By the time USA is willing to engage full force into a war it means there is something in for them. And oil is main thing behind this.
