Dark rides have been a staple at theme parks since the late 1800s but I think they were perfected in 1999 by Universal. Do you agree? Probably not but honestly that’s the fun of it lol

31 min? Not long enough 😉 best ride EVER
a 31 minute video on the amazing adventures of Spider-Man?? YES PLEASE.
nice shades, say cheese, i mean, good luck
Im genuinely sorry 😭
Everyone makes fun of the screen based Universal rides though. Specifically fast and the furious as being one of the worst rides of all time
🕷️🕷️🕷️🕷️
goob voob
Damn. What a great video essay. I watch a lot of theme park insider videos like Defunctland and Yesterworld, and I have to say, your channel is already among my favorites. Great footage, great narration, great research. Keep it right the hell up.
Awesome video! I’ve felt for the past few years I’ve visited the Orlando Parks there’s been something missing from the newer rides, and it’s that balanced blend of an exciting story, impactful scenes and thrilling movements that Spider-Man perfected. Newer rides like Forbidden Journey and Rise have a lot of these elements but their scenes are a little too rushed or empty at times while Spider-Man paced it much better. Excited to see if Epic Universe will step up the dark ride game!
This is one of my favourite rides, if not my absolute favourite ride in the world! The free fall at the end is one of the most convincing simulated moments I’ve had the chance to experience. Great video by the way!
I love The spider Man ride at Islands of Adventure but I wouldn't necessarily call it perfecting the dark ride. It's a different experience which seems like magic when it's paired with other dark ride experiences. but this over reliance on screens and the the same ride system is becoming stale. And the Avengers ride at Disneyland still hasn't even opened… It's becoming one note, over saturated and the magic is losing it's luster.
As a huge Disney fan, and growing up in a Disney park family, I went on this ride with a friend back in 2004, and at the time, it was the greatest ride I’d ever been on. To this day, my favorite part is the pumpkin bomb explosion
I still can’t tell what JJJ’s saying @ 25:53 lol
Awesome video! This ride is a large part of why Spider-Man is my favorite superhero. Being born in 1992, this ride affected me more than the movies due to coming out before.
As a big Spider-Man fan, I've always wanted to go on this ride. Hopefully someday…
25 years later, Spider-Man is STILL a Wonderful, top-notch ride!
As the high priest in the Church of Spider-Man, I approve of this video
Yeah I love the Spider-Man ride
Excellent
15:57 I will never forget the thrill I felt when I saw that real fire ball on this ride. I remember that being the final element that made me think “okay this is definitely the best ride I’ve ever been on”
I think I couldn’t have been any older than 10, was already having a blast from all the near misses and when I felt the heat from that fire it was just the best kind of adrenaline rush
Come to think of it, it made me feel the way all 3D movies want you to feel, like you forgot where you were and that it’s possible for these things to hurt you.
Besides fast and furious supercharge I can definitely agree universal definitely perfected The dark Ride genre
Ooh! Welcome!
Haunted mansion is still my favorite dark ride
I rode the original version in 2003 and this attraction still amazes me to this day with how it pushes theme park technology to the peak
25:54 did he just say the “r” word?
Really hope that this ride doesn’t get taken down because of any Disney/marvel rights issues or contract expirations
This video essay on The Amazing Spider-Man Ride was excellent. I agree, nothing has quite hit the mark in terms of the innovation and all the elements the ride offers. The ride packs with so much and overall is one of the best dark rides in Orlando. I'm excited to see what Epic Universe has to offer in the coming months, since the new Harry Potter ride Ministry of Magic will have this Spider-Man technology but way more advanced! Again, excellent work on this video!
Spiderman is still a ride you cn rise over and over again snd not get bored. I'm sad to say that when it originally came out, I was more interested in rising the hulk over and over again and didn't rise as e Spiderman until we took my kids there in around 2016
Amazing Video 🎇
They added Stan Lee to the ride and it’s perfect ❤
Unpopular opinion, I never cared for it much. I thought it was okay but way over hyped. The ride vehicle was cool, and enjoyed the physical sets and special effects, but the screens and glasses too me out of it. I wish they used animatronics instead. Would have taken it from a mediocre ride, to one of the best in the park. However, after islands opened, we definitely preferred universal over Disney.
GOOD VIDEO!!!!!! I really enjoy when people talk about things that they love and it’s actually pretty rare that people in the theme park community do that so this vid was super refreshing! Keep up the good work 😀
LOVE YOUR CHANNEL ❤
The Goddard Group’s first version of this ride was a Superman ride that essentially was the same plot and track back when IoA was known as Cartoon World and had a DC area.
greatest ride of all time.
“Just watch the Defunctland Garfield video” he says like his audience isn’t 100000% the people who have already watched it 18 times
I love this channel and I love your delivery method, and those little humorous moments 💙
Another channel tried to claim that JP river adventure was THE headlining attraction when it opened, but for anyone who went back then (including me), this was the real draw. And the Hulk. Compared to the near walk-on this is now, the lines then were massive, even years after opening. And yet, it's just as incredible an experience now. In a park full of the same genre of dark ride, it still stands out. Only Forbidden Journey has eclipsed it.
Nice sweater 😂
I am excited to see if Monster Unchained or Battle for the Ministry at Epic Universe might be the next step in dark rides. Universal is promising a lot with those rides
😮😮😮
