Yea no shit? Weve known for DECADES (this also applies to NK) that Russia still uses some WW2 weapons/vehicles/computers. Theyve had a really bad time modernizing their military, this has been the case in the past as well. Russia has only won wars 2 ways in the past: throwing bodies at the problem, or being invaded then turning the tides when winter comes.
The ONLY reason the US doesnt stomp their shit in right now is because they have nukes and we dont exactly want mutually assured destruction, because it WILL come to that.
Honestly i knew with US weapons Ukraine would do well, but the fact they're doing AS WELL as they are is less so telling of how good Ukraine is in combat and more telling how poorly adapted Russia is to modern battle.
The US could press in Russia and China at the same time if it so pleased (the US has MANY willing allies, China and Russia have stepped on far too many toes to be safe which is why we have footholds right at their doorsteps). Both China and Russia only have bodies and nukes going for them in terms of military might, and short fuses. This is why the US is playing the long game with embargos and tarrifs against russia and china, russia is getting the brunt of it and suffering heavily. China is somewhat self sufficient and have their hands in a couple different pots, but those pots if pushed would most likely side with the US if it came to it (Australias iron cobtributions, for instance)
