See there's levels of information expectation that I consider "toxic".
Explaining the 2 minute buff window and me not using pots, food, or melding which is pretty free buffs isn't toxic. It's information I might not know about which now I do.
Pidgeonholing and saying IF YOU DON'T HAVE THIS EXACT THING (that being new you could have no way of getting) THEN YOU'RE TRASH. Toxic as fuck, no thank you.
Informing people IS. NOT. TOXIC. Defining their build and exacts is.
Telling me that if I don't meld crit then I'm trash is utterly worthless. Saying "Hey you shouldn't meld direct hit because you're playing a job that already forces them by default and direct hit damage doesn't scale." is perfectly acceptable.
Purple is the only toxic person in this situation.

what i would have done. i would want to see of his point of view was valid and test it. could we as a group acomplish the duty without food or melds with everyone knowing the mechanics of the fight. if we could complete the duty under those circumstances i would see his argument as a potential valid argument. if we couldn't i would be more skeptical towards his view.

FF14 toxicity is mainly passive aggressiveness and takes place behind your back. The insanely strict and vapid rules set in place that completely baby and muzzle you in game makes things worse. It’s just as bad as other games, just a different type of toxicity, arguably worse depending on the way you see it. A lot of fanboys/girls may disagree lol.
Saying toxic that and that is such modern murican thing, you people became wet noodles that can't handle anything.
Honestly FFXIV has became a safe space for sensitive people…. and this is the outcome…

Will never forget the time in old Praetorium that a scholar refused to DPS and someone from my FC called a votekick and it succeeded and right before he left he called him an afk andy and told him to "suck on this"
Never got banned for it BTW. The report system is that fucking obtuse you'd have to be caught by either someone who knows how to use it, i'm 2000 hours in and I still have to search up how it works, why they don't just make a system where you can just right click on the person's name and click "report" and it fills in some basic information i genuinely don't know.
Getting into WoW isn't made hard only by Blizzard. But the community makes it a lot harder. Like you are suppose to know everything about everything immediately somehow or you get kicked out of dungeons and get berated for not being a veteran and knowing ins and outs of each and every dungeons and its enemies. Don't get me started on raids
I've had people tell me I'm doing great in ffxiv mid fight etc. when I've said it's my first time and stay after the clear to ask me how I liked it, if I had any questions about mechanics or needed help in the next whatever was coming up. As a veteran mmorpg player I definitely see a difference to most games, not just wow.
Anonymity has given people courage they normally wouldn't have in a public setting causing them to be way more rude than they normally would be because there's no real consequences. This discussion is extremely polite and I think rather rational. Melded gear and food are the bare minimum for endgame stuff in ffxiv, it's the least you could do to come to the party.
Lol when they said "no" I would immediately vote for them to go. Imagine recommending something that's the expectation and they want to tell you you're toxic. How are you going to take instructions if you can't even take a recommendation?
