  1. I've been getting this a lot since the last update. It keeps trying to repair one of my hard drives. I never had any problems with that hard drive until the update that was installed just 2 days ago.

  2. I recall that when Microsoft introduced Windows 95, Bill Gates was up on the stage doing the dog and pony show and got a BSOD. How em-bear-assing.

After having exactly this issue on my main desktop computer that was impossible to fix, I changed how I configure my computers. I now partition my main drive into C: and D: where C: holds the operating system and apps only and D: is data. This should, in theory, make the data more easily recoverable if C: is completely shot. ( Yes, I do have other backups) Also, for a relatively low cost, I install a second hard drive to which I duplicate the main drive. A quick change of boot order in the BIOS gets things back up and running if C: is unrecoverable. Yes, it may need a lot of updates but that's pretty quick to do. Or boot to the second drive every month or so to update it. Next time the BSOD happens to you, and nothing seems to work, ask yourself how much you would be willing to pay to get back to work in just a few minutes. That might offer some insight into what you might want to do to assist in a quick recovery solution.

  3. Hey Scott,

Thanks for the video. As said before always enjoy your explanations of how you do it with ease.
Just a thought on two USB flash drives (2:02) why not use one 128 GB+ and add Ventoy on the USB flash drive.
One USB drive where you can add multiple ISO's that are bootable.

You even made a video on it and had that bonus feature at the end. I know I did it that way with Ventoy and it works like a charm.

Anyway as always! Thanks for your awesome content!

    Till next time.

  4. Oof. One of the biggest and most intimidating subjects in the IT industry. And as usual, you made broke it down into manageable and digestible pieces non-techies can understand. Excellent as always always, my friend.

  5. IMPORTANT TIP: Just a quick tip for Windows 11 users. Be cautious at best when trying to make your OS look and/or feel like another OS (Windows 7 for example). Those OS-altering apps screw up the Windows registry and in my case, rendered Windows 11 to a useless, blue-screen state. The error code was "CRITICAL PROCESS DIED". I was trying to make my Father's new laptop that runs Windows 11 look and feel like Windows 7 using those OS altering apps like open-shell and a couple of others — they rendered Windows 11 completely useless after a restart. I know why. It's from messing with the registry too much and it rendered the OS useless with no fix — other than re-installing the OS. I ended up using Windows 10 instead, as Windows 10 doesn't really need any of those questionable apps to make it look sort of like Windows 7. My Father hates every other OS except Windows 7. He can't let it go, but I can't blame him.

  6. Surface Book 2 user here: Windows likes to BSOD if a program uses the optional dGPU in the keyboard-base, but then somehow the OS loses it because F U.
Something about the nvlddmkm SYS, which apparently is the driver…

  7. THE VERY WORST THING about BSOD is losing work not saved. ๐Ÿคฏ ๐Ÿ˜ก. But I only have myself to blame. So EVERY program I use is set to 5 min auto-update, or I try to remember to do a manual save ๐Ÿ˜Š. That's what 40 years of MS distrust does to you.

  8. Huh? A few months back you recommened Hirens with 2 sticks … then you recommended Ventoy with 1 stick …, but now you've reverted to plugging Hirens and 2 sticks??? What gives? Didn't Ventoy wanna keep their sponsorship ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜….

  9. 2:56 I fully endorse keeping old computers regardless of the state they are in because chances are now that time has passed and tech got cheaper you can fully upgrade that old brick for pennies and have it working better than it was new.

  10. Windows operating system has more hidden files than the United States government has hidden away legislation that allows these crony tech companies to exploit vulnerabilities within their software that way they can bother and harass and stock their customers just like us. Gotta Love Big Tech and got to love the intelligence community. Without them in the way computers and everything would run properly. And the VIRUS SOFTWARE WOULD DISAPPEAR FOREVER! IT'S ALL ABOUT DATA MINING AND MASS DATA COLLECTION OPERATIONS!

  11. I get most BSOD resolved, but now I have 'inaccessible boot device' on windows 11 and just can't find what is causing it there. It is on a new Samsung EVO 980 Pro, 2TB and also have this for on my other EVO 980 ssd. But if I clone that to a sata ssd, the computer does boot. I have tried this on 2 different motherboards Asus and MSI, and that BSOD is on both. I can't get it fixed with any tool. The ssd's are good, because with Windows 10 I don't have this problem.
