How to Tip at an All Inclusive Resort | Should you Tip at an All Inclusive Resort | Tipping Guide

One of the biggest questions that we get is about how to tip at an all-inclusive resort, or even IF you should tip at an all- inclusive resort. So in this video I review some of the basic protocols when it comes to tipping at an all inclusive resort and how we personally choose to tip when we are on vacation. Tipping is not mandatory but remember you have the privilege of being on vacation and many of the workers that are making your vacation better do not get paid much hourly and rely on tips as a means of income. A little goes a long way in countries like Mexico and Dominican Republic! #travel #travelchannel #travelvlog
We have learned to be generous tippers because it comes back to you 10X

We respond to all comments and questions so let us know any thoughts or feedback or even additional tips for our viewers!

  1. Eek, following your guide my tipping would equal what I pay for a trip. Having so many friends that I met in my travels, they do say Americans are "over tippers". It's so important to show appreciation, but they don't need that much to feel appreciated when the American dollar does go so much further. It's great that if someone can afford those "guides", but recognize also, that they feel just as appreciated when given anything, and they see Americans coming from a mile away. They have no problem taking it, but you won't get neglected if you don't. Case in point, I tip housekeeping the end of my trip, because tipping is for good service, not to "convince" someone to give good service. I've never had a problem getting what I need. It's a touchy subject, and I recognize that.

  2. It is ALL INCLUSIVE, tips are included in price. We are already paying a great sum for not so great of service in most of the times. Food and drinks are so cheap comparing to 10 years ago, but tips are growing….

  3. People did you take math in school? 50$ per day per person ? Ok, lets count average hotel approximately 600 travelers *$50*7 nights=210,000. Avg. Hotel has `100 employees, 210,000÷100=2,100 per person. So, you are saying hotels workers make 2,100 dollars/week, no way ALL this r

  4. Excellent advice…really like the idea of preparing the envelopes for the week ahead of time…makes great sense to us. We are heading to Cancun…our 2nd visit to Mexico…and our 1st time having a Butler…I gather in addition to the daily tip for the Butler we would tip extra if they bring us drinks or food to our swim out…the same as we would tip any server?

  5. One issue with tipping a lot upfront is that it is not the same people attending throughout your stay…..housekeepers, bartenders, etc. rotate according to their shift and days off schedules….hence, it is not clear if your "larger" tip will reach all the people involved.

  6. Housekeeping doesn’t get the same rooms everyday!!! If you tip up front you’ve only tipped one person, not the people actually cleaning your room! We tip $5/day and $1-2/night for turndown plus $1-2 for people who refill the minibar. And don’t forget to tip room service at an all inclusive! We figure $100/day plus $100 for extras so $500 for a 4 day 3/night stay. We are fortunate to be able to travel and experience these amazing places. The people who live and work in these areas aren’t as blessed. We once tipped the band in the lobby $5 when they played out favorite song. For the rest of our stay they played that song or just a few bars from it every time they saw us!

  7. I believe that the tipping business IS totally out of control, you don' have to tip if you are not happy with service. Remember.. tipping was originally started when person looking after you, went way out of his way to please YOU. That's not the case today. Now, it's just expected every time, everywhere.

  8. We have an all-inclusive X your package we go about every two to four years depending and we were told when we bought the timeshare the all-inclusive meant we didn't need to tip when you figure that our trip cost $2,700 for the all-inclusive stay in our Resort 13 nights if we were to tip a hundred dollars per day we just cannot afford to go

  9. If you're solo and anticipating tipping various staff at the pool, beach or restaurant, how do you carry cash and whatever else you need for the day without worrying about leaving your bag by a lounger, or getting wet or etc…

  10. Very helpful video! Thanks. You reminded me of a few people I would otherwise have overlooked when I go next week.
I think tipping as you go- including housekeeping- is a better way. If I check out on Friday, for instance, and that happens to be the day off for the person that has been taking care of my room every day of my stay, that housekeeper gets screwed if I leave the tip when I check out. Same thing with the other people at the resort. Tipping at the end of your stay might seem more convenient, but it's not more convenient (or fair) for the people you are actually trying to thank by tipping.

  11. Tipping is a mindset of people from the USA. People from Europe don't tip unless at a resturant.
On a all-inclusive you might want to leave a tip in the room for the housekeeping staff, but generally you've just paid thousands for an 'all-inclusive' service. Even curise liners are not incluing tips as part of the package.

  12. Always tip in the local currency. It is a hassle for the employees to use orher currencies and often if an employee lives in a small community the stores will not take the money so they have to go to a bank to exchange.

  13. I think this is a ridiculous list, so basically pay for your vacation then pay each person individually. It's been my experience that the rooms aren't cleaned adequately, the service is subpar and you spend an insane amount of time at the front desk fixing issues that you should not have to.

  14. Was wondering-in this video you wrote that in the past you tipped the Butler after the stay, but next time you go to a place with a butler you will try tipping them up front. Have you since done that? If so, how was service every day? Thanks . Blessings!

  15. We go to Cancun a lot. We find if you tip well ,the staff remembers you and they tend to make sure you are taken care often. I know the bartenders will have our drinks ready as we are walking up to them.

  16. You should make another video about not getting drunk and misbehave in resorts. Or better, not using your $1 tip bills humiliating bartenders. I've seen a lot of them in resorts. Groups of men with NFL or NHL shirts shouting and disturbing other guests. But they tip, of course. They feel good people. They don't even try to learn some spanish also, but no. They think everybody in a spanish speaking island should speak their language. But they feel honorable people.
