Well, the title definitely feels a bit misleading all things considered… Kinda felt like a really short how to on Li battery operation and then a widely inapplicable solution…
Especially because things like not charging too fast or leaving plugged in are waaay old news. Modern tech handles these problems fine, your phone will slow down charging as it reaches risk areas. Just watch your own, most will start to slow down around the displayed 80% mark to prevent overheating or damaging the cells. We can't replace batteries anymore, and as much as people hate that kind of thing talking about planned obsolescence, no one really talks about it anymore. We just don't have a need, we aren't constantly wearing down batteries to the point of wanting one or two new per year, compared to other PO issues like processor speed or storage, although even storage has become so large and small that no one talks about SD cards anymore. My phone is 3 or 4 years old and im only now starting to feel like my battery isnt great, i charge in 15-20 mins and die over 7-8 hours, compared to 20+ hours when i first got it. Originally, like out of the box, i could almost get 2 days from one charge. But 7-8 hours after years is honestly still pretty good and i rarely if ever find myself in a position where my phone is at genuine risk of dying. I have to remember to manually reboot from time to time haha, because the battery is just still very efficient.
Any chargers nowadays that would damage your battery life above normal degradation are doing something wrong. Especially since a lot of logic is in the receiving end on the phone.

Interesting stuff but i was kind of expecting more information relevant to the wide spectrum of viewers directly, in that maybe there was a new technique similar to the 'keep charge between 20 and 80' of yesteryear. Kinda just seems like we are in the same boat, just there are more identical copies of the same boat haha
Oh you know; put your phone into the microwave. The waves are analogue and will charge your phone in six minutes, whilst not corroding the lithium.
You should cover the phone with aluminum foil, though, to spread the heat and make sure it doesn't fry the phone.

80% battery left isn't the problem, the real problem is when u update the software on your phone, the software uses more juice on it so it dead quicker 😂

So beside it being an ad. A lot of smartphones already incorporated smart charging and it's not novelty. What is a novelty, from what you are saying, is capability to measure anodes potential independently. It is done by introducing 3rd electrode, which act as a reference. Both cathode and anode potentials are measured in reference to that. Lithium is quasi stable reference, but LFP for example can be very stable reference electrode. This system is called 3-electrode cell. By doing so, you can ensure that the anode potential never drops below 0, by e.g. lowering the power during charging (ohmic drop is proportional to the current, which lowers the potential at anode in dynamic state i.e. cahrging).
But that battery won't last long, as dead lithium is by far the smallet deteroration mechanism in batteries. Delamination due to size change and mechanical stress in the coatings, induced by z-fold or cylindricall geometry plays major role. Cracking of the cathode material, gas evolution and on and on. You can divide this into 3 categories – loss of active lithium, loss of active material and loss of contact. Dendrites formation is small part of loss of active lithium. Major part in particle cracking, renewal of the surface and increasing the SEI layer surface area.
I recently got offered a giveaway from action lab on youtube as a reply on my comment, which led me to communicate on telegram. Looked genuine, and nearly fell for it. Shipping was $50+. I like this channel but had to give this shameless plug of a video a thumbs down. Who's going to buy this completely mysterious Oppo Reno8 Pro phone just because the original battery might last well past obsolescence. Batteries can be replaced. The battery in my 3 year old Galaxy S10 still has tons of capacity. Why would I buy this? It's going to take more than Supervooc to get me onboard.

Batteries have been around since ancient times. They were crude and housed in giant rocks or clay pots but they were batteries. Unfortunately, ancient peoples (as far as we know), didn't fully know how to utilize electricity to the extent we do in our society (or more accurately, they used it for different and more limited uses).

The thing Oppo have overlooked, is we now live in the ultimate throwaway society. People don't change their phones because they need to, they do it because they want a new shiny thing. Thus they don't keep the phone long enough for the battery degradation to affect them.
I've switched to pixel phones 2 years ago primarily for Google Camera but I 'm still missing OnePlus dash charge which was basically just a rebranded version of Oppo VOOC. fast charging with no voltage conversion inside the phone, basically like if your charger was directly plugged to the battery. it is actually really very similar to level 3 DC fast charging on EV's!
The biggest benefit was no additional heat generated inside the phone except the heat from the battery we, which meant fast charging while using the phone and never overheating/throttling down the charging speed, and less slowing down at t'higher SoC
Biggest disadvantage was only fast charging with (kinda expensive) compatible dash charge/VOOC charger AND cable, and VERY slow 500mA charging otherwise..
A phone that can double the battery life is a great improvement! Unfortunately USB-C PD has become the norm but is inferior regarding heat management. I wish USB -PD could improve while remaining backward compatible, I like being able to charge laptop, tablet and phone with the same charger.

I always wondered why the phone doesn't just stop accepting energy after the phone reached 100%. It doesn't seem that hard. Even if you had to eject the charger or just Block the current.
