  1. My first time viewing this gardening channel, very well done! My apologies if this has already been addressed. Though I do have to say, one should not cut off the tendrils as their purpose is to give added strength to the plant as its fruit gets bigger. Without the tendrils the fruit may fall to the ground while bending the plant, then succumbing to more pests, mold and rot.

  2. its worth noting that just like with tomatoes you can actually get more total yield by not pruning them and letting the suckers grow. But its even better with cucumbers than with tomatoes as they grow and ripen at the same time. So you get even more yield!

But oh my goodness they are crazy vigorous and will go anywhere they can if they can.

  3. Your garden is looking lovely. The plants are so healthy and strong. My garden on the other hand is completely critter eaten. I can't grow anything anymore. The critters know my place is their ticket to a big meal and they hang around and eat everything nowadays. I have not found a way to keep them out or off my garden so I have stopped trying to grow anything they eat. What is left is a few greens like Asian lettuce which nothing seems to eat except people! I cover the fruit trees with bird netting which mostly works. But the vegetables are almost a complete loss. Probably cheaper to buy organic from the shop anyway.

You donโ€™t really need to prune cucumbers, they will do just fine and produce very well! Itโ€™s a waste of your time if you have plenty of space in a garden… unless when people donโ€™t…. then yes, you can prune with great results.
Love your Videos and subscribed of course, as you fellow NJ gardener, always good to learn from each other. Thank you!!!

  5. Who are these You Tuberโ€™s attempting to emulate with all these lead-in antics, goofy voices and hand gestures? I see it and more often than not, click to something else of interest. It is my love of cucumbers that I will gut through this. Seriously some people actually think the extreme Whatโ€™s-up YouTube lead in is cool?

  6. I have been watching gardening and homesteading videos for a couple of years now, but only dipped my toe in. I don't think I have grown cucumbers yet, but plan to get them started this year. I never knew that if one reaches maturity, the plant will stop producing. I always learn something new on your videos!

  7. Thank you for this video! I just pruned my seedling cucumber plants that were probably started too early & overtaking inside of the house! Lol waiting for last frost date here in zone 7B & canโ€™t wait to get them transplanted outside to their strong trellises! Gotta start hardening them off as soon as we get a break in this crazy 20โ€™s weather in OK.
