Weak solar panel. Save your money.
Excited to make a fun bird-bath with this solar pump kit, I bought two, one for me, one for a family member. They never arrived. The post office either never delivered it, or it was stolen from my mailbox. They said it was delivered at 8:40PM. REALLY?? I live out in the quiet suburbs, so mail theft, and happening that very night, was strange.
So, I bought two more, just because I wanted to build these. Got some serving trays the dollar store, bought the silicone tubing, poked holes in the serving tray, got a 5-gallon bucket, filled it with clean water, and hooked it all up.
Testing demonstrated that the solar panel only works when it is in full sun, and pointed directly at the sun. Anything less than direct sunlight, and the pump struggles or stops altogether. I swapped pumps and panels, since I had two, and the performance was identical. Garbage.
I was really disappointed that the solar panel is so weak. If it had about 50% more milliamps of output, it could keep the pump going when the panel wasn't pointed directly at the sun. As it was, I had to redirect the panel about every hour.
No way will I use this system. It just plain sucks. Inadequate specs on the panel.
If it worked, I was going to keep the first one and make a cleaner setup to give to a family member.
As it is, I'm not going to bother.
What a waste of time and money. NOT WORTH IT.
Will you please talk about how long your fountain pumps work, noise level, etc ? Every time I go to buy one, the reviews scare and keep me from ordering. Thank you!!!
