Have you ever thought about how pride can quietly ruin our lives and relationships? In the first episode of the Live Free with Josh Howerton Podcast, we dive into the effects of pride and humility, kicking off the Kingslayers sermon series.
We start by reflecting on the powerful moments from a recent Night of Prayer and Worship at Lakepointe Church, where we saw God move in amazing ways. This sets the tone for our discussion, where we look at Nebuchadnezzar’s story in Daniel 4 and how pride brought him down. We talk about how pride is the ultimate “Kingslayer” and how it’s just as dangerous for us today.
Along the way, we discuss how pride plays a role in marriage, entitlement, and even anxiety. We explore how these issues can stem from a sense of self-importance and how humility can transform our relationships and mental well-being. Throughout the episode, we offer practical ways to fight pride, focusing on gratitude, humility, and spiritual practices like prayer and worship. We also highlight the importance of community, service, and having a servant’s heart—just like Jesus did.
By the end of the episode, we hope you’ll be inspired to embrace humility, experience true freedom, and connect with the Lakepointe community. If you’re ready to build deeper relationships, join a Life Group at Lakepointe Church—learn more at https://lakepointe.church/groups/

So glad this is now longer a trial. Still am missing the Daily Drive. ❤❤❤
So glad this is now longer a trial. Still am missing the Daily Drive. ❤❤❤I was in my 40s when Mortal Kombat came out. 😅
I really appreciate this podcast! The sermon was great, as always, but the practical, genuine supplemental aspect of you guys riffing off of each other is incredibly valuable to me as I go to work, life my life. It’s both inspiring and instructional. Very needed! God bless you guys!
So glad that Live Free is born. I was aware of Sadaam Hussein and his reconstruction of Babylon from when I served in Iraq. I never connected the dots of why the same evil keeps occurring in repetition due to the same evil spirits at work. Thank you for taking the time to deepen our understanding of the spiritual message started at church. It is both fulfilling and humbling.

I taught this lesson and asked a friend how he would define Humble. He said when a wild horse is caught, he resist all constraints using all his strength to gain his freedom. Once he accepts the bridle, he will allow the rider to dictate the direction. The Horse has all his strength, but submits. Jesus was being nailed to the cross, he had all his power to get off this cross, but allowed God the father's will to lead him.
What if I was not wise at the time in choosing my husband 23 years ago. I’m praying now that God will give me wisdom and not feel abused at that. My husband will draw closer to God. I have no Biblical grounds for divorce.

I love the part when he said ask questions. If you don’t ask questions, maybe you really love your thoughts only.
