In the south where we don't have harsh winters, I feel our rut is never predictable like the research shows (I believe it might be primarily dependent on doe family group)
I am going to down a doe, in hopes of getting a buck to check it out this coming weekend. Good luck to all hunters out there. Be safe

Thanks for all the wisdom sir! Shot my first buck in years yesterday afternoon. Got out of hunting around 22-23 for busy life reasons and then back at probably 4 yrs ago. I’m 39 now. Been studying your videos along with a couple other guys, anything from hunting to food plots and even burning and implementing what I can to my land(135 acres or so). I was beginning to get discouraged. Shot my first off this land and my personal best ever yesterday. 14 point in some tough hill country of South Carolina. Came in checking two scrapes I was sitting about 30yds from. Thank you again!
The peak of the rut here I'm southern Saskatchewan is usually around the 15-20th of November.
Given what I saw on our trail camera last week, all the little spiker bucks and one big bruiser were having a 4 a.m. antler shindig.

I rattled in my best buck, an eight point, in 2000. I haven't rattled much since then but I tried it again last week. No luck. I used a rattle bag. Do you prefer actual antlers?
Has there been any studies done about the rut based on age structure of the doe population. I believe the older the doe population the earlier the breeding occurs. The younger the later, so theoretically depending on the age structure of the herd, some hunter’s acknowledge and experience rut activity at different times. I believe that the commonly known “rut” period occurs mainly where the average herd age of the population is 2.5 to 4.5. I think when we see bucks chasing it is mainly the 2.5 year old doe’s and younger.
I have a beautiful buck on trail cam on 10/27 at four pm, it’s 11/12 and he hasn’t been back at all ! Impossible to hunt him
