  1. Hi Robbie, I love your videos. You are such a pleasant lady. I wanted to say I would consider a tote as square foot gardening. I think it would be considered 11/2 square foot. That might make it easier to know how much to plant. Thank you for your videos♥️

  2. Doin' a happy dance. Both our thrift stores had totes! Bought 5 Sterlite 18 gal totes for $2.75 TOTAL!! All in great shape. So, I'm up to 25 totes. The thrift stores had bigger totes, but I'm sticking with 18 gal.
Filled 2 totes with sticks, leaves, scraps and my soil… planted onion sets. Started tomato seeds in a plastic drink cup with a hole in the dome lid -for the straw. And, I did your trick of inverting the dome lid, stuck a paper towel "wick" down it—tomatoes seeds will soon be sprouting. Made 2 domed Tulle covered lids and 2 flat lids with cut out centers-covered in Tulle. ALL from your video instructions. Covering 1 domed lid with plastic so I can plant earlier.
I binge watch your videos! Then get too hyped up to sleep, because all of your awesome ideas keep jumping around in my 72 year old head. And, I've never been more hyped up over gardening IN MY LIFE!! THANKS! 😊

  3. Hi Robbie! So fun to see the comparison between the totes!! Off topic, I have a question regarding growing ginger. Since you most recently showed us you are the queen 👑 of growing it…. I have some organic ginger from the store and want to plant it. Do you need to bury it? Halfway bury it? Lay it on its side? Since I do not have the long, full year to grow it, I plan to bring it into my cooler basement for the winter. Any other suggestions?? Thanks for your advice!! Have a wonderful evening!! ☺️

  4. I follow the sq foot garden method! 16 radish per square foot so 20… I actually stumbled up a vlog with multiple harvests in the same spot… like radish then tomato then radish… lettuce-potato-lettuce… kale-peppers-kale for spring summer fall! I'm so excited to get so much more out of my harvest this year!

  5. Robbie , may I ask a question? I composted in place last year. When I went to freshen up my totes for this years planting , I had found roaches in the bottom. They were going after my compost in there. I ended up throwing away my soil. Can you advise me where I may have gone wrong? My plants did so well, but didn't I realize what was going on in the bottom! Thanks

  6. Thank you for this reminder! I always seem to get overzealous with my squash and melons and plant too many too close together. It always becomes a jungle. Without fail every year lol

I think I have some watermelons that need thinning…

  7. What do you think about asperagus? I am planning to put them in 2' diameter mineral totes. 10 crowns are coming. Ido not really want to dig a 2 ft hole in my clay for them. I saw one person put 4 in a smaller container and someone else one per tote

  9. I’m in Durban South Africa and our climate is sub tropical. However we have a small river at the bottom of our garden and all our soil is river sand. Until I found you, I was spending a fortune on compost etc. Now thanks to you I’m moving over to containers. Totes are expensive here so it’s buckets and today I found some paint buckets put out for trash so they came home. Thank you so much for all your inspiration.

  10. Right you are Robbie.. too many plants in a container would naturally compete for the available nutrients.. Only thing that I successfully planted 4 in each tote and which did quite well, were chilli peppers. I snipped all bottom sgoots. They grew upright and full… and produced a lot of flowers. But every 10 days, I had to add fresh compost, dried tea leaves or diluted seaweed to keep them all well fed. The results were gratifying. I had so many peppers that in spite of daily consumption, 18 months later, I still have some left in the freezer. 🌶🌶🌶

  11. Robbie-why don’t you add T Posts and Cattle panel against your wall so that you can grow vertically? They’re not that expensive and you could grow so many crops vertically: melons, tomatoes, peas, squash, etc.🥰

  12. Wow! Thanks for teaching me to see it's NUTRIENTS, as much as SPACE. I pulled out 10 cucumber plants(sprouts) from my cardboard box bed, and planted them into separate pots to grow. I now will need more boxes….need to order more Amazon stuff 🤪🤣🤣

  14. Dad had a tote, probably 10-13 gallons, where a caregiver stored food for one cat. I put the contents in a cereal keeper and promised him the cucamelons I will grow in it. He hasn't a clue what a cucamelon is, but he asks about HIS cucamelons.
