  1. This is life when you have a company on the stocks and shares index you the pilot cabin crew are not important even us passengers it's all about stocks and shares and keep paying out dividends.

  2. It wasn't that things didn't work perfectly, they literally ran into a total buzz saw of issues, delayed deliveries of 787's, then the RR engine issues, 7m7 being grounded and covid the list goes on.
As a regular passenger with them, the big issue for me was, they were an easy choice when the premium cabin was cheaper than the legacies, at the point where a seat in an empty premium cabin costs more than say BA or VS on the same route, then it becomes a far bigger ask.

  3. It was a perfect storm with the MAX troubles at the same time as low risk aversion in the company. Then Covid came and put the last nail in the coffin for "old" Norwegian.

  4. I recently flew Norwegian Rome Oslo Rome and found it very satisfactory. No frills but everything done efficiently. Easy booking (boarding passes found their way to my smartphone just before I went to security. Scandinavian to me evokes impressions of no nonsense (including no baggage paranoia). A delayed departure was due to Fiumicino Airport problems but the pilots remedied and all went well. Alt gikk find!

  5. As someone who lives in a fairly remote town in Norway, Norwegian is the reason why many of us can afford to travel as much as we do. It's easy for remote areas to fall under a monopoly by one airliner. In our case that is usually SAS. Even Widerøe is exceptionally expensive because they have a monopoly on small airports around the coastline. A 30 minute Widerøe flight can cost as much as a 5 hour Norwegian flight down to Spain. Needless to say, the competition has been healthy for our experience, and as well as that, Norwegian's service has always been wonderful.

  6. Thanks for the detailed video about a company I've flown the most so far. I used to be their returning client for six years flying from HEL to Spain mostly. I remember noticing something wasn't right in the summer of 2019, actually being aware of the 737 MAX crisis having had watched Mentour's videos; that kinda figured why Norwegian was on the verge of its hard time. Even so, in early 2020 we flew a Smartlynx's flight from LGW to HEL, probably subcontracted/outsourced (?) by Norwegian, as I believed, "because of undelivered 737s. 20-year old A320 felt… different to what we had got used to.

We haven't got back to travelling the way we used to "thanks" to the pandemic and something else later… Norwegian's livery is like a sign of the good, almost careless times.

  7. It seems that Norwegian Air, was greedy, no doubt wanting to show SAS they can beat them…This was a great Video, and I wonder if I may ask you to take a look at the Demies of SWISSAIR, for whom I worked for from1981 until its downfall in 2002, ?

  8. The title and thumbnail for this video startled me. I have a flight coming up with Norwegian in less than two weeks… but it's a domestic flight inside Norway. I actually had to check my reservation to make sure my vacation doesn't run into any trouble.

Then I watched the video, and understood. 😅

  9. Petter, I must take you to task regarding your Norwegian Collapse story. You completely failed to cover how they undercut labor by using ‘flags of convenience’ to avoid labor law. The character of the company was revealed in that action.

  10. Flew LGW-OSL-BKK; very good ticket price but my beef was that they would not or could not book our luggage through to Bangkok, so we had to go through the whole luggage/security process in Oslo, both ways! We also learned from the Thai cabin crew on the return BKK-OSL flight, that their wages were paid in Thailand and at Thai rates. So yes, Norwegian were very 'creative' with their employment/outsourcing schemes.

  11. Sitting on the ramp area sometimes watching one of their aircraft go by, I always wondered who in the hell picked out that livery. Always reminded me of a dog’s penis with an erection. Sorry to be so forward.

  12. Growth in any business is great but for a regional airline to make huge jumps and operate B777 across Atlantic and hoping to make money at it is a far-fetch idea of growth. I wonder they ever made any money out of that operation. Great video as usual. Thanks.

  13. After 40 years in this industry I’ve seen a bunch come and go. People’s Express, Eastern, Pan Am, Braniff. I can remember when Braniff ceased operations in the 80’s and one crew in particular found themselves stranded in Hawaii. The FE was informed just before landing that the company had ceased operations and they had to find their own way home. Being an employee of an airline could be quite profitable for a time and then……..sometimes without warning…..the ax falls and you and a couple thousand other pilots are all looking for a new job sometimes at 1/4 the salary that you’re used to. It’s a nasty business.

  14. The whole expansion plan was too greedy. Money 💰 drive is not a great motivation.
It’s the company , thus personnel that is representing it as a whole that makes the grade.
Stupid to expand as low cost formula barley ads up and on top of that have no fat on the bones in activa and passiva.

  15. Norwegian has forced SAS to compete on pricing, which is a good thing. But it probably made SAS bleed money at a higher rate, forcing Scandi governments to bail them out numerous times. And this then was hurting Norwegian because they had to compete with a carrier that could run chronically with heavy losses.
All Nordic passengers need to keep their fingers crossed that Norwegian will find back to a stable position and continue to keep ticket prices in human levels.

  16. Didn't the CEO cash out before the bankruptcy? Literally just expanded like crazy… Built up market cap cashed out and let it go bust… It was never going to survive…. And it's not hindsight…. It was clear even back in 2015/16/17 when I first used them

  17. We travelled many times in Norwegian from Oakland to Scandinavian countries, we really enjoyed the crew was very good and because of its location/price we went to places that otherwise we would not have gotten chance to visit. Very sad that they expanded to Argentina and then got hit by covid. We really miss Norwegian very sorry that the crews got hurt so bad by the sudden ending. If any of the former crew read this I want to thank you for all the service and helping us see Northern part of Europe.

  18. We had the aircraft maintenance contract here in the US. Since I was pretty much the only certified 787 tech…I REALLY got to know the crews. Both flight deck and cabin crews. Long story short? Really knowledgeable folks and super friendly!

  19. Your comments on airlines are generally misinformed.

Your comments for example re Qantas were very biased, contrived and misinformed. You regurgitated a number of falsities. Probably unknowingly – but no excuse.

You exhibit usual pilot short comings – you spout about things that you know little about – somehow think you are an expert.

I have yet to meet a pilot (and I have met hundreds) who knows anything meaningful about ‘airline business’ – even though they think they do.

You should stick to discussing aircraft, flying ops and incidents.
