What would be the best hold for a Glock 19 5 gen?
New pistol owner here. Excellent video Sir, thank you!
Thanks for the info
Very informational! Good job!
Just got back into guns after 26 years, will be going to the range this weekend and practice these tips with my son
Great tips for us Newbies thank you
Excellent and straightforward explanation! No fluff, no jokes, no BS! Perfect!
He didn't cover dominant eye. My problem is I have co-dominant eyes. Your supposed to shoot with both eyes open but when I do I see two guns and two sets of sights and they are transparent so it get very disorienting and I can't seem to master it. I got a red dot and my shooting has drastically improved. I can keep both eyes open. I still see two guns but I just have to put one of the red dots on the target and shoot. I still need to master iron sights somehow.
Thanks for the reminder of the basics. Very well explained. These days I practice more with muscle memory and speed
Thanks, New info learned.
Any advice for an old guy who has trouble getting a clear view of my iron sights? It seems like I can focus on the front sight and get a clear view, but then my rear sight is out of focus or visa versa. Same with the target. Clear picture on the target = fuzzy sights? Great explanation in the video!
I've spent a year mastering iron sights , and doing very well ,. Everyone says dots sights are faster , so I got them installed on my favorite two guns. And I suck ! it's nearly like starting over . I didn't expect it would be that much different, it's mostly from press out , my sight picture isn't there till I'm fully extended . With irons I would get my front sight between my eye and target as I pressed out , and build the picture. That doesn't work with the dot , I can't get the picture on the way OUT , only at full extension. Alot more training to do !
So red dot just makes it easier to focus on the target and sights without sacrificing a clear picture of your target hm. I might look into it a bit more never been a fan of red dots or holos.
You mean you're not supposed to hold it sideways like blacks do?
May be a dumb question, but why not just make the front site just thick enough so if you see any space on either side, you know your off to the left or right, and if you adjust for windage then you can also use the space as a guide also. I don’t know the math and trigonometry and all that stuff, I’m just wondering the why or why not of that particular idea

Good aiming video
How do you know if the red not high or low when there is no reference, if the dot is 1/32 low you will miss the bulls-eye and the same thing if its too high. How can you tell.
Is this a life survival situation or an accuracy test on the Range. On the range the red dot always wins but in survival situation time is critical and the open sight wins.
Great video!
This is very helpful video. By the way what kind of holster did you use? Thanks.
Great stuff . Thank you
great video. i hope you can elaborate more on the pros and cons of each hold, maybe in another video. whats the advantage of each and who would each hold benefit?
It is always good to go over the basics. I'm glad so many new people are buying firearms and learning how to use them . Best they learn the right way to start with .
Great video, never knew about Sigs and the combat hold!
why is this OR?
i have both going on….
I trained in iron sights so I prefer them. Why? Because I can see both front and rear sight immediately when I bring my pistol up to my sight picture (front sight alignment). I also have a red dot. When I bring that sight up, I can’t see the dot bc the nose of the pistol is misaligned. I have to move the pistol around, side to side, or move nose up/down, in order to find the dot. It’s frustrating and I lose seconds that I may not have when situation presents itself. IMO during combat, iron sights are my friend. Good video 👍Sub’d
Great Verbal and Visual Explanation of nice video
nicely done
Thanks for the info.
What a great video! Really great information for all levels.
This helps a lot! BTW, does it matter if I aim with one eye or both eyes? Which one is more effective?
Thanks!
Took my cousin to shoot her new pistol and realized although she was right handed, her dominant eye was her left eye! (Using iron sights). Work in progress. I wonder if a red-dot would help. Her left eye is clearly dominating!
