Modern-day Somalia was among the first places on the continent to embrace Islam. The earliest mention of Islam in the country came shortly after the first Hijra (migration) in the port city of Zeila, Somaliland. The city hosts Masjid al-Qiblatayn which is the oldest mosque in Somalia, the third oldest in Africa. The Hijrah to East Africa took place before the Hijrah to Madinah, and due to this, the Muslims in East Africa had already established their places of worship. As the original Qiblah was Masjid-Al-Aqsa, the Muslims in East Africa were praying facing in the direction of Jerusalem. However, they changed their direction once the news reached them about the Qiblah being changed to the Ka’aba in Makkah.

  1. The little did you know, Somaliland is separated and different from Somalia; don't get it twisted. Somaliland is an independent country, so you can't call it a part of Somalia. Somaliland is the only place in the prior Great Somali Republic that you would visit due to your safety.Whatsapp !

  5. Islam was brought to Somalia by a Somali man by the name of Yusuf Kooye (Also called Al-kowneyn by the Arabs) in the 12th century in northern Somalia and it spread to the south by the Somali nomads. We converted to Islam for fear of Ethiopia who were the agents of Christian Byzantine in the region and Islam was the only power that would keep them at bay so it was logic to turn to Islam.

BTW Mogadishu is a Somali word not Persian word. It’s from the word Muuq Disho and it’s a 3000 years old city. Nothing to do with Persia or other people.

  7. إنا كنا أذل قوم فأعزنا الله بالإسلام فإن ابتغينا العز بغيره أذلنا الله"

"We were a people who lived in ignorance and immorality, but Allah brought us honor and guidance through Islam."

However, "I hope this channel makes a video about Ahmed Gurey. His contributions to Islam are the reason many countries in East Africa are still Muslim today. His story and impact deserve more recognition."

  8. Somlia Embraced Islam in the First Muslim Hijra when the Sahaba led by Ja'afar Bin AbiTalib migrated to Eastern Africa- Today Somalia and Ethiopia location. Thanks to Allah, bythen Islam was only 5 years old and we accepted without a sword. Thats why we dont have a single non muslim Somali.
Again, in Somalia, we have one masjid called Qiblatain (meaning 2 Qiblah, One towards Baitul Maqdis and the other towards kaaba) built by the Sahabas at Zaila' Coastal city. Upto date the masjid still survives with the two Qibla's, this s clear explanation how the Barakah of the Sahabas effected the area.
During the Ottoman Period, Somalia was led by strong muslim leader called Ahmed Bin Ibrahim Alghazi. This Imam stopped the Portuguese and the Spanish to invade Makkah, Madina & Ottoman territory from the coastal, since then Ottomans befriended with the Somalise and use to send them Ottomnic army to fight along and led by the Somali Imam since they were thr bigger muslim power and the mission was successful 😊

  9. the think with somalia is they already believed in a one god they caller ebee and till this day sometimes reffer allah to ebee . not abba but ebee. propaply some aramaic also used that word maybe to reffer to allah sometimes. but the jews and greeks changed it to abba meaning father. abba and ebee are verry simmilair sounding words. we all know somali language consist of many arabic. hindi. aramaic ancient egytian words. only a little is native words. i have this weard feeling about ebee and abba. some jews and geeeks played tricks on the world when they were creating christianty.
