How Powerful is Legendary Godzilla?

Godzilla, King of the Monsters, has defeated many legendary opponents. The MUTOs, King Ghidorah, King Kong, and many more. However, in The New Empire, he may have finally met his match. As Godzilla’s new quest becomes growing even mightier, let us consider just how powerful his own myth has already become.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire[a] is a 2024 American monster film directed by Adam Wingard, produced by Legendary Pictures and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. It is the sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) and the fifth film in the MonsterVerse franchise, also serving as the 38th film of the Godzilla franchise and 13th in the King Kong franchise. The film stars Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Dan Stevens, Kaylee Hottle, Alex Ferns, and Fala Chen. Hall, Henry, and Hottle reprise their roles from the previous film. In the film, Kong encounters more of his species in the Hollow Earth and must unite again with Godzilla to stop their tyrannical leader and his powerful, frost-breathing Titan from destroying the surface.

Three years after defeating Mechagodzilla, Kong has established his new territory in the Hollow Earth and searches for more of his kind. On Earth’s surface, Godzilla continues to maintain order between humanity and giant monsters, known as “Titans” — killing Scylla in Rome and resting in the Colosseum afterwards.

A Monarch observation outpost stationed in the Hollow Earth picks up an unidentified signal. On the surface, the signal causes Jia, the last known survivor of the Iwi tribe from Skull Island, to experience hallucinations and visions, causing her adoptive mother, Dr. Ilene Andrews, to worry. Also sensing the signal, Godzilla leaves Rome and attacks a nuclear plant in France to absorb the radiation. Godzilla then heads to the Titan Tiamat’s lair in the Arctic. Monarch believes Godzilla is strengthening himself for an oncoming threat.

When a sinkhole opens near his home, Kong discovers an uncharted region where a tribe of his species has survived, including a juvenile named Suko. After an initial confrontation, Kong forces Suko to lead him to the tribe’s lair, and the two slowly bond on their journey. The tribe’s tyrannical leader, the Skar King, battles Kong with the aid of an ancient ice-powered Titan, Shimo, whom the Skar King controls with pain using a crystal. Shimo’s ice breath damages Kong’s right arm, causing frostbite, but with Suko’s help, Kong manages to escape, though he loses his axe in the process.

Andrews and Jia, alongside Titan veterinarian Trapper and conspiracy podcaster Bernie Hayes, travel to the Hollow Earth to locate the source of the signal. They find the Monarch outpost destroyed. As the group ventures forward, they discover a temple that leads them to a subterranean section that houses a surviving Iwi tribe, who communicate telepathically with each other. Inspecting some ruins, they surmise that the signal was a telepathic distress call sent by the Iwi.

Sensing Jia, Kong locates the temple and is fitted by Trapper with a prototype exoskeletal arm brace to strengthen and heal his frostbitten limb. Unbeknownst to them, one of the Skar King’s loyalists has followed them and informs the Skar King, who assembles his invasion force for Earth. Jia successfully awakens the reborn Mothra.

Godzilla kills Tiamat and absorbs cosmic radiation from her lair, evolving him and turning his dorsal plates magenta. Hoping to lure Godzilla to the Hollow Earth to assist him, Kong surfaces in Cairo and calls out to Godzilla. Despite Kong’s attempts to communicate, an irate Godzilla attacks him, and a brief fight ensues until Mothra arrives with Jia and convinces Godzilla to help Kong. The trio then heads down to Hollow Earth to face the Skar King along with Shimo and his army. The fight drags Godzilla, Kong, Shimo and the Skar King to Rio de Janeiro, where Shimo begins to induce another ice age at the Skar King’s command. The factions are evenly matched until Suko arrives with Kong’s axe and destroys the crystal controlling Shimo. Shimo and Kong then freeze and shatter the Skar King.

After undoing Shimo’s ice age with his atomic breath, Godzilla returns to rest in the Colosseum. Jia reunites with Andrews and alleviates her fears by choosing to stay with her adopted mother. Mothra restores the protective barrier of the Iwi’s home and then departs. Kong returns with Shimo and Suko to Hollow Earth, where he becomes the ape tribe’s new leader.

  1. I don't mean to sound like a snob, but you mixed up the permian mas extinction event with the KPG Mass extinction event.
The KPG mass extinction wiped out the nonavian dinosaurs and 76% of all life on Earth. It started when the asteroid Chicxulub impacted the earth.
The End Permian Mass extinction by contrast wiped out a little over 95% of all life on earth. Hence why it is also called, the Great Dying. I happened when a supervolcanoe the size of Siberia errupted and burned the atmosphere and land on a global scale.

  2. Its been said that Big G didn't evolve for the Skar & Shimo fight but more towards a much bigger threat like Billoante or Space Godzilla which we hope we see in the next movie cuz if we learned anything from this movie is that Legendary isn't afraid of altering or deleting previously established story narratives, to give us way more interesting and slightly more unrealistic stories which might reach the Showa Godzillas level some day. This is more of a theory cuz besides Shimo, Big G didn't seem worried at all about Skar and for the most part, seemed pretty confident about taking on Shimo besides her Ice beam which he learned the hard way, to avoid.

  3. This is my opinion on my favorite versions of Godzilla;
    1. Legendary Godzilla
    2. Tristar Godzilla (Yes I like this version. Don’t judge me too much for it)
    3. Final Wars Godzilla
    4. GMK Godzilla
    5. Minus One Godzilla
    6. Heisei Godzilla (I like both designs about the same)
    7. Hanna Barbera Godzilla
    8. Original Godzilla (1954)
    9. Godzilla 2000
    10. Kiryu Godzilla
    11. Showa Godzilla (all versions of this era as a whole are unique in their own way after the original film)
    12. Godzilla Earth
    13. Shin Godzilla
    14. Singular Point Godzilla
Keep in mind that this is on the films and shows to the Godzilla franchise. The comic book and other appearances would be on a list of their own in my opinion.

  4. Cold blooded? Maybe in combat but I'm pretty sure he's warm blooded…well, EXTREMELY hot is probably more accurate. Unless it's stated canon that he is cold blooded but I don't believe a walking nuclear reactor could be even remotely cool let alone cold.

  6. More MonsterVerse Godzilla's powerful forms are on the way, and everyone will definitely see MonsterVerse Godzilla's White Atomic Breath. Everyone will definitely see that in the future MonsterVerse Godzilla's films.

  7. They originally said that Godzilla and Kong were going to have another battle in the Hollow Earth. But, nope. Adam Wingard didn't like that idea. Yes, he didn't like that. There was an idea in Godzilla vs. Kong. Which was scrapped, Kong goes to the top of the building and roars (like the rest of his movies like 1976's King Kong and King Kong 2005) then Godzilla uses his Atomic Breath and Blast the whole building Kong falls from that building and then Godzilla Stomps on Kong. This was a scrapped idea from Godzilla vs. Kong. This scene was almost there in the Crossover movie. But Adam Wingard didn't like that idea. Adam Wingard in his script on Godzilla vs. Kong and Adam Wingard almost wrote that Godzilla uses his atomic breath in Kong's face in Godzilla vs. Kong after Godzilla Stomps on Kong. Kongs' faces would have been burned. There was another script, At first, Adam Wingard decided that Godzilla would fight Kong on Skull Island. But after that, Adam Wingard decided to make their battle flashy, and then he decided to add Hong Kong. There was a script that Godzilla would tear off Kong's flesh from his hand on Skull Island. See this image from Godzilla vs. Kong. Godzilla vs. Kong would have been a dark movie like 2014'S Godzilla. Yes After 2019's Godzilla: King of the Monsters underperformed at the box office Adam Wingard decided to bring Hollow earth idea. Major reshoots took place. See this at first Kong punches Godzilla on his face, then Godzilla tear off Kong's flesh from his hand. There was another scrapped idea of Godzilla vs. Skullcrawler in Skull Island. Don't expect a dark tone like Godzilla (2014) when Adam Wingard is there. Third Crossover movie will also like Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, but with Godzilla being focused.

  8. Crisis please return to some Star Wars Content. Your “how powerful is Darth Vader” video was fantastic, the best I had seen I often come back to it because Vader is that guy and you are that guy when it comes to power scaling.
