How Origins Improved on a Perfect Formula

If Mob of the Dead was Treyarch putting out feelers to test a possible new direction for Zombies, Origins was them jumping in with both feet (giant robot feet?) and committing fully to this entirely new era for the mode; one that would be the blueprint for the next 2 full games and more.

“A Zombies Retrospective” is a series in which I play through each Call of Duty Treyarch Zombies map chronologically, and analyze its place in the series.

  1. Wow actually a beautifully done video. I like that bit where u used same saying this is step one while talking about how this is the first real leap into a new era. Good touch 🙂

  2. I'll always respect and hate this map, for all the reasons you said. This was the start of Zombies 2.0, every map after it tried to be just like daddy Origins with only a few exceptions.

  3. This was the last zombies map I put 100s of hours into because of the way zombies 2.0 is a more team based mode. My friends I would always play zombies with had either stopped playing call of duty or went to the PS4 by the time BO3 came out, and playing BO3 maps with randoms that don't talk or listen is not fun.

  4. My favorite Map and youre 100% right with needing to learn this map so you could really enjoy it.
Back in the day me and my friends would always do the easter egg seeing how fast we could do it,
cant believe that it already has been 10 years .

  5. Origins was really my first foray into doing easter egg quests. They were something I never really bothered with before because they just toom so much work, but Origins put it at the forefront in a way that fit so naturally within the gameplay loop.

  6. Aside from the Mud, the over reliance on the staff’s, and the atrocious generator busy work, this map did so much right. And it paved the way for other maps in the future. While I don’t like Origins, I respect what it did for maps going forward.

  7. Since we've reached Origins I think it's relevant to ask this question.
When you get to the Zombie Chronicles DLC for Black Ops III I'd suggest doing 1 video, about the length of maybe 10 – 15 minutes talking about the changes done for each map. No need to go though them all again. But also hurrah of having the classics back.

  9. Your videos and the new plutonium servers on pc have made me fall in love with zombies again. So much so that I bought black ops three and an beginning to experience “the golden age of zombies” for the first time.
