How Jim Harbaugh is using J.J. McCarthy to help Chargers with NFL Draft | Colin Cowherd Podcast

Colin Cowherd and ‘3 & Out’ host John Middlekauff debate whether Jim Harbaugh has an ulterior motive for hyping Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy prior to the NFL Draft and how the Los Angeles Chargers could end up “stuck” in the draft if quarterbacks are drafted 1-4.

  1. Colin and John, the two of you guys are easily my favorite pair of sports analysts in the industry today. And I definitely think that the two of you together are the best pair of sports analysts for football. No question in my mind. I seriously think the two of you would be really successful with your own football television show on Fox or ESPN, etc. I hope that happens someday. No kidding.

  2. Are you really telling me they won’t be able to shop the pick if MHJ is still on the board? Getting that WR on a rookie contract for 5 years? Of course someone will take that opportunity. The old pick swap calculator needs to be revised. If you wing the ball, you’ll pay the price for MHJ or even Nabers.

  3. I think if MHJr is there at 5 you absolutely take him .. telesco tried for a decade to draft for fit rather than best player available and it almost never worked.

  4. Id take Joe Alt or Bowers over the three wideouts, Marvin has yac problems not to mention hiss 22 season is way better than his 23 season because had Jaxon smith with him, Nabers is iffy against press (watch the Bama game, Kool Aid and Arnold carved him up), id rather stud tackle or TE. Justin when he had Andrews in the pro bowl looked awesome. And then if i took Alt at 5 id take Fisher at 69 RT from Notre Dame and trade Slater mid season for shit load.

  5. LA and AZ would be much smarter to cooperate instead of competing. If they did a 3-team trade where AZ ends up with the 5th, LA goes to 11 and MN takes their QB at 4, both teams could hold the pick hostage and exploit the Vikings desperation.

  6. What if they trade Herbert to the vikes for those 2 1sts then take JJ at 5 themselves. Easiest way to win in the league is with a cheap QB. They can get McCarthy and a top-tier LT at 11 and a pretty good reciever at 23. 3 big money positions on rookie deals with the 5th year option on all 3. If im their GM that's the route I'd take.

  7. The theory that Harbaugh praised JJ McCarthy in order to position the Chargers for a better pick in the draft is ridiculous. Harbaugh has praised JJ as the best University of Michigan quarterback in December 2023 and in early January before he ever met with the Chargers. These theories are nuts

  8. This thinking is terrible… missing on a pick is missing on a pick. Taking q Johnson and him sucking is not better than taking a qb and him sucking because a qb changes your whole organization. So the upside is greater. IMO teams should draft QBs every year till they find one

  9. How do you not invision Harbaugh and a ravens gm taking a wr? Jim has never taken a OL in 1st round and we have a right tackle being paid decent money. Plus we just lost our two starting WRs. What is this analysis come on guys
