Which version of the movie did you see? What did you think?
Absolutely love this movie. The 2 best predator movies are this one and the very first one. Damn I wanna watch this one again lol
Wait…. There's a Comanche only version!? I was literally just talking with my homie saying I wish the whole movie was in Comanche. Mind fuckin blown in def watching this again
Watched it in Comanche last night. As someone discovering itβs ancestors language and working to recover, to watch a film like this in a Native American language was the greatest experience. Besides that, it was filmed beautifull, so many shots were just amazing, the colours, the textures did create an ambiance and top it off with the language: fucking chefs kiss
And it has full Comanchie version? Kurwa, need to see it one more time, cyka blyat.
Loved the movie π
Great movie. I really enjoyed it. The original Predator and Prey are easily the top 2 in the series. Hulu killed it with getting this exclusive. The movie would have made huge bucks in the theaters but I haven't been to the theater in years because it is overpriced with the tickets and food. I have Hulu so I preferred it on Hulu.
Who cares
Oscar maybe
It is nice to do the Camanchee, but did it make a business sense?
If you people think that's anything like life and the people 300 years ago then I have a bridge to sell you with that said you know it's called acting for a reason you pretend to be someone else
People that this movie need help. Almost everything in this movie was outright dumb. Just another βstrong femaleβ cliche movie with this girl with a βI can prove myselfβ mentality, who is pretty much stubborn throughout the movie. She literally puts her own people in danger and fights the men who are trying to get her to safety, just to prove that she can hunt. No meaningful character building or personality. The movie does little to make you like the protagonist. And everything she does just somehow seems to be justified. All for the sake of promoting this βgirl powerβ cliche in a literal blood sport movie.
And donβt even get me started on the predator getting beat by this girl. The predator slices itβs way through beasts and fighting men, but the movie does everything in that forces of nature to stop it from just picking up the damn girl and mabye finishing the job.
Whole thing was predictable from start
I am perfectly happy and glad there is a movie that presents Native Americans as competent and not just cannon fodder etc. But none of the Native American historians or experts commented on whether or not it was culturally accurate for a teenage Comanche to go against tribal norms, refuse to perform her tribal duties as a gatherer and abandon her responsibilities to prove herself. If the experts say that was normal, well okay. But that would seem to go against most cultures of the time. Not just Native Americans.
I liked the film, but one moment I disliked is the ending, when she brings the head of the predator, not the body of her brother for proper burial. She could take both or one at the time. In that case, it could be very emotional scene. He, on the other hand, brings her to camp first, then returns to lion.
You canβt stream the Comanche version. One more middle finger from these greedy pricks
I flipping loved the film and haves watched no w at least 20 times, based souly on hunting and had nothing to do with it being a predator film. I can't wait to see legacy it leaves.
I agree with one critic. The animals in the movie were weird. That is the biggest complaint. The animals acted like npc mobs in a video game with agro ranges instead of animals that would value survival above anything else. Why would a bear give up a meal to go after the human? I can see if defending its meal, but that is not what the bear was doing. The wolf would have run from the freaky invisible thing. It was not defending any cubs or anything else, it would have run. The cougar was weird too. Other than that, yeah it was fun.
This is good news to hear π
It's a horrible movie.
I enjoyed the film – my three criticisms were the mediocre wildlife CGI and Grizzly bears only having been native to southwest Colorado not known as Comanche territory), the film location in Alberta doesn't really match the ambiance of any Comanche territory in the 1700s, and the portrayal of the French trappers and their treatment of the indigenous people they encountered. The French were among the first* Europeans to settle in my home state of Colorado – the southeast quadrant would have been Comanche territory which would have been brighter and more like prairie than mountainous. It's been my understanding that the French treated Native Americans with more respect than their English counterparts – which made me wonder "could the English have been THAT much worse?"ππ€π. Realistically, it was NOT in their best interest to mistreat "Indians" when their small groups would have been surrounded by them (literally and figuratively). Perhaps the Raphael Adolini character was enough to make up for that (I don't know, since I'm not French or Comanche). I was glad to see the treatment of the Comanche as people with both good qualities and human flaws. Now I'm looking forward to re-watching it in the Comanche dubbed version.
*You can read about the Colorado Oghams indicating possible Scotch/Irish/Norse exploration of the Colorado Great Plains centuries earlier.
Great movie but Comanche use the bow completely differently to how it was portrayed in the movie. It would not have been hard to change it so don't know why they didn't.
Just realized that the Predatorβs took a page out of her book when they used βdogsβ in Predators back in 2010.
we needed william knifeman cameo as an extra
This movie taught me the most dangerous native warriors were the 90 lb pretty girls.
"I fawking love it, it's gooder moVIe, watch it with BEbsi and Frybread. And you'll know BeLieve Me. You'll feel that native side come out." 5 out 5 Frybreads.
I loved it till it got sexist lol.
"Why do you want to hunt so bad?"
"Because you all think I can't"
WEAK LOL
Should've been
"Why do you want to hunt so bad?"
"Because I WANT TO"
DING DING DING!
Prey represents the ultimate pandering to the feminist movement ever seen on film. To believe that some puny Indian girl with her magical tomahawk could defeat the predator when dozens of tough full grown men couldn't stretch credulity to the breaking point.
I enjoyed the movie (Second best Predator movie in my opinion), but I'm one of those guys who only watches Dubbed Anime, so I couldn't bring myself to watch the All Comanche version.
Yea it would be nice to see a American Indigenous movie without white people just one time
Glad they enjoyed it, it's a good take to make a film about Comanches, but is it just me or aren't all the Comanche dudes just portrayed as interchangeable incompetent and immature bitching fools with no personality, other than the main character's brother?
I don't care about politics in movies, just make it good
and not racist or sexist either way.
It lost me with the feminist bullshit.
I wish this movie had toes so I could suck on them.
I genuinely wanted to watch this in comanchi, but not dubbed! I had heard they shot two takes of the scenes and was excited about that, as it had worked so well with Apocalypto. Very disappointing. The English dialogue was at times a bit modern sounding and sometimes took me out of the film a little. It would have been far better at least in two versions.Merely providing the Comanch people with a dubbed version actually seems a bit disrespectful if anything. a perfunctory (and cheap) gesture. The director made the wrong call.
They did all that just to butcher the Archery. Comanche did not shoot bows with an inverted grip as seen in the movie. That really bothered me…
The lead actress is attractive but I felt she was a little out of place for that period. Her hair and make-up as well as her mannerisms all belay her as a modern girl.
I actually rate it the 4th best Predator movie. The first was of course the best. The second one is very underrated by the fans. The third one I found most interesting with the setting. Prey is good and better than I thought it was going to be. But I wouldn't rate it as second best, it's not quite that good IMHO.
Feminist woken posse BS with diverse cocktail breeding female who kills a dumb beyond FK predator. As for Natives they are absolutely are worthy of praise in real life, but not for this chubby girl who is not fully native!! look at her face she doesn't even looks native but like her asian mixed breed cocktail. Getting some feminist woken posse financed director and critics false praises isn't gonna help! BS paid promo. Feral predator π Not using simple tech cannon coz it's not technically advanced but has invisibility techππ and in Aliens vs Predators they were using the same advance technology in ancient Inca times. Do spare few moments for those special ops Navy seals etc Combat conditioned top military personnels who had sweat their a$$ off just to injure predator but here this chubby girl who can't even balance herself is able to take out predator ππ Flopped BS of delusional feminist minds. βοΈπ
I thought this movie was badly made. My first clue was watching this indian girl walking around wearing designer cloth. Look at everyone in that village of hers and you will see everyone wearing loose clothing but she wears cloth that fit her like a glove ( custom to fit her). Another point is when she strikes her brother in front of the other braves, she would most likely have been beaten or at worst killed, sister or not. Feminism did not exist at this time. Yes, this is a SF but what makes a good movie from a bad one is realism. You can still add that to a SF movie as well. There were some minor mistakes on the original "Predator", but most of it was still base on realistic actions. I think I miss the biggest point, If I remember correctly I think they were shooting a musket rifle at this time period and you would see cartridges that she picks up at a mass bafflo killing. Something like that, that I made a mental observation of. This made me laugh and I concluded that this movie was poorly made
Nat Turner was of the Nottoway Indian Tribe, He was what you people hate so much a negroes man, not African American. You all think that all Aboriginals are these Spanish looking light skinned folk. The American Aboriginals are brown or darks skinned, curly haired negroes. Look at crocodile Dundee, how the British claim to be Australian but clearly shows you what an Aboriginal looks like.
For such an accurate depiction, the whole cast would benefit of some gym work
It sucked! Hoka!
I wonder how natives whose ancestors were victims of the Comanche felt about this.
I'm Native American and I actually liked it. ππΌ
Palest "Indians" ever.
Comanche were legendary for their quick release fast shooting short bows. They could fire off 3 to 4 shots in seconds. The Comanche were the only reason that the Spanish didn't conquer North America. The Comanche were such fast and accurate shooters that the 6 shooter revolver was developed to combat them. They used a short bow, about 50", and held several arrows in their bow hand for quick follow up. They used a palm inwards, quick pinch grip on the nock did NOT use the ridiculous palm out grip depicted in the movie. This movie took the one thing that the Comanche were famous for and feared throughout America and reduced it to Hollywood drivel. The real story of the Comanche's archery is a much more exciting story.
Other than that, and a few other rejections of Native American culture in favor of what looks cool, I did like the movie but I think it would have been better if they didn't Hollywood-ize it the way they did.
"A long time ago, it is said, a monster came here". I believe that line is applied to the settlers, not the Predator. The whole movie is an allegory to the native's genocide.
