  1. One of my language partners has been doing readings for me from his 5 year old daughters school book (along with sending a picture of the text). The volcabulary in it is way above my HSK 2/3 level, but it is really interesting to read and the language it uses is I think very poetic compared to the sort of language you come across in the foreign language textbooks. Very helpfully it has the pinyin over the characters, so it makes it a lot easier for me to look up the meanings, though as it is a very descriptive / metaphorical type of language I am finding it is more useful to put full sentances into google translate (not alwasy great for translations I know, but it gives me a start) than try and look individual words. Here's an example of the sort of text: 那一声声唧唧的知了叫声已从那树林里消失了, 那一棵棵翠绿的树木也患上了金黄色的睡衣,那红彤彤的太阳变得温和起来了,那凉爽的西风也匆匆赶到。。。这景像告诉我们: 秋天已经来临了。
