Dr Gorst was pretty terrifying so much that I got Josef Mengele vibes from him. The Angel of Death with his soft voice and 'almost' innocent smile before he inflicts horrific pain and torture upon his victims.

The fact that the torturer is called a doctor reminds me of the Nazi trials when lawyers said the horrible experiments done by the nazis in the concentration camps were a "medical matter". Gorst is not a doctor, he is the antethesis of one.
