I was subscribed with cerebral since winter, and recently canceled my subscription. I had hoped to receive assistance with my ADHD, and had hoped for an official diagnosis and help. It even mentions still in their FAQ page, "Can Cerebral providers diagnose and prescribe medication for ADHD?: Yes to both. We offer non-stimulant treatment options for ADHD. At this time, our providers do not offer stimulant medications for ADHD." I figured I would be receiving assistance from decent people, but instead I feel as though I was paying $100 a month to be blown off at every opportunity. My first prescriber canceled on our very first meeting 3 times before I was able to get a new prescriber; I had met my care counselor before my prescriber at this point, and even she was concerned. Upon meeting my new prescriber, I relayed my concerns about my ADHD. She asked me two questions and then dismissed me, saying "Oh, you don't have ADHD, it's probably just extreme anxiety." She also referred to ADHD using older terms, splitting ADHD and ADD up, despite all research telling me they're the same: either ADHD Hyperactive, or ADHD Dissociative. I made it clear that wasn't what I was here for, but she insisted and proceeded to put me on a stimulant medication that she had previously stated she wouldn't do, because if it was ADHD a stimulant wouldn't necessarily help; a lot of their ADHD patients didn't do well on the stimulants. Needless to say, the stimulant did not help and in fact I felt even worse. I made that known in out next meeting and she put me on a non-stimulant, but from there it seemed to medication was actually helping me. They would up the dosage or insist I be on it another 6 weeks to be sure. I experienced absolutely no change. All the while, I'm being billed $100 a month ($15 for medication, $85 for the actual assistance) whether I had met with them or not, being talked to only 6 weeks at a time. Not to mention that any time I needed help, it would take them forever to respond, if they did at all, and every time I'd go to schedule the next appointment, their calendar would say there's nothing available for over a year. It was getting to a point it felt ridiculous to pay so much for essentially no help, and I canceled services. Shortly after, I started hearing I wasn't the only one basically being ignored, so I'm glad I got out of there. But still. That's at least $600 lost for basically nothing, and I wish I'd never turned to them at all.
Yap, capitalism be evil, profit over anything, and yes, treating people who don't do well isn't a good way to motivate them, and is extremely bad for mental health.

ADHD is not real. It’s arrested development. They monetized you with uppers.
You have been capitalized upon. Wait, let me rephrase, ADHD is real, in the sense that these people have minds that can’t sit still because they’ve never actually TRIED to do that. Nobody needs to take uppers and I recommend you all get OFF of them. It won’t help you if you take it chronically.
Fools on YouTube are like “I watch my videos in 1.5x speed.” Oh yeah? You aren’t digesting that information. That’s the stimulants talking…. And I know from personal experience…
My experience with cerebral sucked. The prescriber gave me a medication that I told her I have previously tried and doesn’t work. The therapists would keep canceling my appointments. The first one was “no longer available”, so they transferred me to a different therapist…who canceled my appointment the day before. Waste of money.
Ngl, when you said people are waiting up to 3 months, I thought 'oh, only 3 months.' in the UK it can be years before you see a therapist

While with Cerebral I was prescribed Straterra. I told the prescribing provider what medications I was currently on, as I was adamant about not being put on a stimulant med as well as making sure prescribed ADHD meds would not conflict with my current meds. Long story short, the Straterra interacted horribly with the albuterol that I take for asthma throwing me into AFib and causing me to have to be shocked twice. I NEARLY DIED because my heart rate was well over 230 beats per minute and my blood pressure was nearly non existent. This company needs to be stopped at all costs.
Stop thinking a business is ur friend. Never have been, never will be. Businesses think of u as metadata/wallet
AHHH… After Covid started my Psychiatrist I had for years, I could only have appointments over the phone. Then he moved out of state, 6 months+ wait for initial new appointment. Assured many times refills until then. Well, I got them for half that time, thankfully my GP helped for the rest. Symptoms of addiction often mirror symptoms of lack of treatment. ADHD especially is commonly shared genetically, so if you don't live by yourself, of course there's a huge chance of duplicate addresses. None of these things are said enough, because the many people unable to work and untreated suffering is preferable to having overprescribing going to ppl who accidentally kill themselves recreationally? Same goes for patients with chronic pain. This type of issue should probably be discussed while avoiding labels like overprescribing…

I’ve had a great experience with Cerebral. The start was confusing, but I’ve been using it for 4 months and I love it. I will say MAJOR changes happened around 2 months ago, at least in Texas. They can’t prescribe any controlled substances.

I completely understand the feeling about how terrible it is and how behavioral health is treated within healthcare in the United States.
I have waited years to find a therapist, and I just now recently I had an appointment for a therapist after 2 1/2 years of waiting, and that hasn’t been my longest wait!
It’s sad that for-profit organizations like Cerebral can try to take advantage of people who need real help because behavioral health care system needs to be fixed.
I am so happy you covered this. My experience was terrible. I have anxiety, depression, & adhd. The prescriber immediately started pushing adderall even tho I told her I struggled with addiction using those pills in college. Then within 15 mins of the appointment she diagnosed me as bipolar & sent me bipolar medication even tho she said she wasn’t gonna prescribe me anything until I went over the options. I was never given any options & the next visit wasn’t scheduled for like another month or two. I called my mom who is an RN & she told me not to take the medication & she helped set me up with a local mental health company. Plus canceling the Cerebral subscription was pretty difficult from what I remember. It bothered me that I specifically stated that I wanted to start with a low dose daily antidepressant & had addiction issues with “as needed” medication & they still kept pushing hard drugs on me anyway. GROSS. I will never recommend them & I will always speak out against this company.

Edit: For every script junkie, there are far more who don’t abuse or sell their meds. Cerebral actually helped me out. That was until certain narcs ruined a system that actually helped some of us. I don’t get this YouTuber.

Meanwhile the opioid/adderall/prescription “crisis” is overblown to the point that those of who genuinely need meds can’t get them are forced to buy from international pharmacies or resort to research chems. Don’t get me started on the amount of times people get ripped off and lose hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
I guarantee in 15-20 years we’ll look back on the opiate “crisis” the same way as the BS “crack epidemic” in that it was was mostly media hype that you all ate up. I know more alcoholics than I do drug addicts.
Cerebral has been the only way I’ve managed to keep all my appointments and maintain my prescriptions in my adult life. I’m 42, I’ve been taking medication for my add(later adhd) since 1988. I’m extremely overwhelmed at having to change the one thing that worked for me, and the fact that I had to read about it in the Wall Street Journal. Which I manage to read because I’m medicated. This whole situation sucks.
Did.. did you just call your 25 wait period to see a psychiatrist BROKEN?! In Canada you have to wait YEARS and YEARS, you Americans are very spoiled if you think a three week wait is BROKEN
When I was finishing my Master's and getting my LBT, Cerebral was one of the companies to reach out looking for therapists. I'm really glad I didn't decide to work for them, I had this really bad feeling about working for an almost entirely online company and chose to listen to those instincts. I work with school districts, now, and being able to be completely online would have been nice during the pandemic, but I really think I dodged a bullet with this company.
I had to deal with Cerebral, even when I didn't actually see them. Around July of last year, I was told that Cerebral was a good choice for online mental health. However, because I live in Rhode Island, which Cerebral didn't accept insurance from, I would've had to pay out of pocket. And despite trying to cancel the payment because of this, they still kept taking money from us. It took literally threatening a lawsuit before they fully refunded the money back to me
I have ADHD and I experience a lot of mental problems with severe anxiety I have depression and detealization where most days I feel like I'm not even real or I can't recognize myself anymore
I tried to get an adhd diagnosis and got a bpd one instead.
Okay, but as a person who got taken off Adderall when I turned 18 because I "might share at college" and haven't been able to get it or think well since. I can't stop thinking about how I want to do a month with cerebral just to get my meds again…
I haven't watched the video yet, but I know exactly what it is about and I'm so glad somebody finally said it. I don't believe we have Cerebral over here, but we have something called BUP, which should be the same thing basically. Over here kids get diagnosed with things such as ADHD and Autism left, right. Then they just proceed to prescribe them on drugs that they potentially don't even need, which is probably why kids nowadays become addicts… Not to mention that things like ADHD and Autism are for the vast majority noticeable when you're just an infant/toddler. Of course, you can get diagnosed later in life, but it doesn't add up with the fact that somebody who didn't show symptoms earlier AT ALL is just suddenly now diagnosed simply for being "overly energetic" or "not being like everybody else".
We talked about this in school and my teacher (who actually HAS ADHD) discussed this with us, and lo and behold, many kids who are highly intelligent, meaning that school might be less interesting/harder for them, get misdiagnosed with ADHD or Autism.
Why? Because first of all, they're too lazy to actually solve the problem, not to mention that one of the biggest flaws we have in our education system is that the education isn't individualised, and obviously this seems hard to do which I cannot blame them for, but I still believe it is a huge problem. You cannot expect every single person to have the same mindset. They are not robots who are going to obey every single order you give them, these are human beings each with a different thinking process. It just doesn't work like that, and to blame THEM for it and just misdiagnose them with something they don't even have is fucking crazy to me. Second of all, I do also believe that kids get prescribed on medication just so that the school can control them. Yep, I know, it sounds like a crazy conspiracy, but to be fair, everything in this world is basically a political game at this point, so it seems plausible to me considering that medication can completely change somebody's personality entirely. I had a classmate did a 180 when they took their medication, and not exactly for the better. Not saying you shouldn't take your medication if you have been legitimately diagnosed with something, some people genuinely need it to function as it can get out of hand depending on how severe it is.
But this is just my take on it. I'm gonna go ahead and ACTUALLY watch the video now, lol
