Mikel Arteta finally picked up a Premier League win over Pep Guardiola, with his Arsenal side beating Man City 1-0 at the Emirates. A deflected goal from Gabriel Martinelli was the difference in an otherwise dull game between two candidates in the title race.
Both sides came into the game with injuries and suspensions to key players, with Rodri and Bukayo Saka both out of action. The game may have been lacking in attacking entertainment, but how did Arteta finally beat Manchester City?
JJ Bull and Jon Mackenzie take a look at Sundayâs game in detail.

Good old Football! -Soccer! đ¤Ł
Rare Tifo L. Not mentioning Tomiyasu's role in the goal and the spot on substitutions.
A deflection goal that's it
There was No KDB…
With a deflected own goal with no kdb Rodri and no fullbacks couldnât create a sentence with that lineup
Creds to John for pronouncing "Ădegaard" like a native Norwegian!
So even if City's 'best' players were on the pitch i.e Rodri, KDB and Stones, and Arsenal had Saka, the game would've still played out the same way?
IT DOESNâT MATTER HOW WE DO IT!!!! THE POINT IS THE JOB WAS DONE!!!! PEP GOT OUTSMARTED BY HIS APPRENTICE đđđđ
Arsenal havenât even left 3rd gear yet going forward . Seen a few people critical of us not having that fluidity going forward. I get that , I think some of it has been sacrificed for more defensive prowess. Also got to consider that our ideal front 3 of martinelli , Jesus and saka havenât started a game together yet this season
You donât need 17 minutes to explain why. Arsenal got a deflected goal and city were missing their two creative players
How Arsenal beat City – A Short Story: KDB is out, that's it.
Castolo of Pro Evo!
I dont care how we did it, im just happy we finally won a league game against city
No De Bruyne. No Rodri. Thatâs how. No need for some nonsensical tactical BS. Arsenal was far from healthy as well but City go from invincible to very beatable without De Bruyne and Rodri.
Spoiler…he got a deflected goal..end of..your welcome
Here was how Arsenal beat Man City:
Luck.
Disagree with that final take. I think injuries have dampened our attack more than anything. Haven't started our preferred Jesus, Martinelli, Saka yet.
Also we don't HAVE to play through the middle. We have elite wingers.
pArsenal
how arteta finally beat man city? just got lucky as a draw was written all over the game đ
Great video but re arsenal being less attacking. I donât agree its the personal additions – its the fact that their front 3 are yet to start a game together this season coz of injuries!!!
How are you telling us about football, but you still cant say Odegaard or Haaland right
Not to take away from Arsenal's win, but I really feel City are a different side without Rodri and had he played the outcome would have been different.
