Mikel Arteta finally picked up a Premier League win over Pep Guardiola, with his Arsenal side beating Man City 1-0 at the Emirates. A deflected goal from Gabriel Martinelli was the difference in an otherwise dull game between two candidates in the title race.

Both sides came into the game with injuries and suspensions to key players, with Rodri and Bukayo Saka both out of action. The game may have been lacking in attacking entertainment, but how did Arteta finally beat Manchester City?

JJ Bull and Jon Mackenzie take a look at Sunday’s game in detail.

  1. Arsenal haven’t even left 3rd gear yet going forward . Seen a few people critical of us not having that fluidity going forward. I get that , I think some of it has been sacrificed for more defensive prowess. Also got to consider that our ideal front 3 of martinelli , Jesus and saka haven’t started a game together yet this season

  2. No De Bruyne. No Rodri. That’s how. No need for some nonsensical tactical BS. Arsenal was far from healthy as well but City go from invincible to very beatable without De Bruyne and Rodri.

  3. Disagree with that final take. I think injuries have dampened our attack more than anything. Haven't started our preferred Jesus, Martinelli, Saka yet.

Also we don't HAVE to play through the middle. We have elite wingers.

  4. Great video but re arsenal being less attacking. I don’t agree its the personal additions – its the fact that their front 3 are yet to start a game together this season coz of injuries!!!
