What could happen if China attempted an invasion of Taiwan?
Tensions over Taiwan are the highest they’ve been in decades. Chinese military exercises have stoked fears of a devastating war that could involve the U.S. and its allies and leave the global supply chain hanging in the balance.
Here’s a look at how a war over Taiwan could wreak havoc on the island nation, rattle major powers in the Pacific and devastate the global economy.

What concerns you most about a potential conflict over Taiwan?
How Asia sees China
1)Japan: 90% hate
2)Phillippines:90% hate
3)South Korea:80% hate
4)India:80% hate
5)Vietnam:75% hate
6)Taiwan:70% hate
7)Indonesia:55% hate
8)Singapore:50% hate
As of today, no actress in Hollywood looks as good as Shelby does
You forgot to mention that if the US military goes to Taiwan aid and accidentally hit mainland China, China will definitely strike the United States. So its just not nearby countries but also US.
It’s simple since the prc has interfered in the Korean Civil War and the Kashmir dispute, then we can certainly interfere in its civil war
Anyone who doesn’t believe the West should intervene should see a psychologist for their Stockholm syndrome
I doubt the current Philippine Administration will cooperate well with the US when a war in Taiwan broke out.
Civil war never ended, China is working on a closure of this left over issue of more than 70 years in the coming years…
drone empowerment shouldnt play role in blockade attempts, haphazardly. SCS "navy" could take some roles in the theater. and oddly, the island civilians have a steep learning curve in drone culture over mainland.
The apps and services you love are NOT gone. They will just stop scaling, as in, if more users join, it might get slower. It's not gone.
Although, losing access to TikTok doesn't seem like a bad outcome.
🇺🇸 is trying copy TSMC 😆 so that Taiwanese economy will suffer greatly omg 💩 = USA
Very strange for title to say “Taiwan ravage” Should be mainland ravage because it is the aggressor
IED Xi!
I mean in a war the island gets wiped out and turned into the surface of the moon by Chinese artillery and the rest of the world runs out of advanced semi conductors so the world consumer electronics market takes a big hit. China gets what they’ve wanted for decades; the land, but don’t get anything from it because they’d have to level everything to take it. They get to claim victory but lose out on everything else as the rest of the world, and particularly the other Asian countries, turn on China.
For China, the reunification is not really that independent. The independence is important. The US is squeezing the grey zone between them. The risk greatly increases. And the US is moving high tech industries outside of Taiwan. Will Taiwan really gain benefit from this?
Death to the American empire!!
How can PLA fight any one when their soldiers are starving from the covid lockdown? 🧐
more earthquake and drought for zichuan 🙏
Chinese Communist Party must be eliminated!
Ms Shelby Holliday, you are very attractive.
Taiwan and the US know what would provoke China into invading. Mainly it's Taiwan declaring official independence, as opposed to the defacto independence it has now. So far Taiwan has not done so. But if in the not too distant future, the US wanted a proxy war and a full out economic war with China, then the US will pressure Taiwan into declaring independence. This will be a repeat of Ukraine and it would be horrible certainly for Taiwan but also the US and the world. The US recently threatened to invade Iran over alleged cyber attacks on Albania. So will Iran or China be next? Or both at the same time while the proxy war with Russia is still raging?
This is always phrased as what if China attacks Taiwan? This is fundamentally a conflict between China and the USA. Both sides know that. And most likely this will be a full out economic/sanctions war , a Ukraine 2.0. TSMC and intel are buiding huge fabs in Ariz. Since semiconductor shipments will stop at the start of the war, it's most likely the US will not provoke China by pressuring Taiwan to declare independence until those fabs are up and running. If Taiwan wants to avoid a war, they will delay getting it's fab running.
I think the fact Taiwan will be forced into a total war condition is a major point often overlooked. A tiger is most dangerous when its cornered. Meanwhile everyone else who is dragged into the conflict will most likely NOT be in a total war scenario. I think Taiwan could independently hold China off, though not without great cost.
Will be a significant shortage of iPhones for sure.
China will never broke full scale war .
I believe majority of the ships pass Taiwan strait are those to or from China. That's say blocking the strait would mostly affect China. By the way, China's export is 3.36 trillion usd in 2021 and it's growing this year, they supply laptops,tv, mobile phones, toilets, machine and tools. Without China, the world supply chain would be at great shortage, I.e. disasterous inflation would sweep the world. this is most everyone should worry about a war.
If this bully Chines Communist CCP attack and bomb Taiwan, then also Taiwan will bomb big city and dam of the Communist China. The economy of Communist China will ………..DIE.
Pretty bold of you to assume Taiwan being separate country from China to begin with. All of us have seen what happened during 'COVID-19 times', reporter: in your findings you have mentioned Taiwan being part of China and din't put independent report.
THE WHO official: silent silent I'm sorry but we have to end this call due to some disturbances in network.
Based on my personal experiences, I had co-worker whose name I'm not gonna drop,… but Dr.Chehao always said, "I'm proud to be Taiwanese but you know what it'll be better to have Taiwan being part of China, so that we can prosper.
As an unbiased reviewer, I decided to accept what he said.
Russia never wanted to end the war soon, China could take Taiwan back within 72 hours.
Guess the us can't hold the pacific anymore, get fucked off
Caring less about Taiwan (and many other parts of the world) will do good for you, USA,
for real, sincerely
The purpose of war is not necessarily to win. Sometimes it’s to re-baseline. For example let’s destroy Taiwan on purpose and eliminate them as the leading producer of semi conductors. Now you open up the semi conductor manufacturing from scratch on an equal footing and spur an economic boost and race across many countries including the u.s and china. Both win. Yea there will be a huge sacrifice for a while since there will be a shortage of semi conductor chips but countries are on generational time.
Very good, let China Do it now. So Taiwan and Ukraine can celebrate the victory together in 2023. We already witness how U.S Army technology smoke Russion on the land, I want to see U.S Navy technology smoke Chinese CCP on the sea.
1. In today's western society, a small group of arms traffickers with ulterior motives preach hatred and force everywhere and peddle extremism. Unscrupulous politicians cheat voters by preaching extremism. Fools only see the small benefits in front of them.
2. Taiwan's so-called president Tsai ing Wen and most of the members of their caucus are not independent at all. They are just opportunists.
3. I only know this. If the world becomes a battlefield, everyone will be a loser. Especially those small countries without strategic depth. Modern war is not like World War II more than 80 years ago. Small countries such as Britain and Japan should not think that they can escape disaster by hiding on small islands. Instigating struggle and harming others will eventually harm you clowns.
But what price would China not pay to reunite the Chinese people? China suffered unimaginable humiliation and destruction at the hands of Western aggression. She needs to be strong and united to prevent that from happening again. And there are selfish politicians and traitors in Taiwan province who would sell their Chinese heritage and collude with foreign powers to undermine their country for power and money.
