  1. I don’t particularly enjoy
Influencers because they seem so disingenuous. Feels like it’s own pyramid scheme. Personally I follow the people I feel like I can relate to in some way, not someone just pushing products they probably wouldn’t buy themselves.

  2. If you’re not willing to be vulnerable and open about your life, where is the value for a follower? Posting your picture perfect life when you actually can’t pay rent is fake, why would people want to waste their time on that?

  3. I think what you’re missing in your discussion about the value of influencers is that people don’t value your posts without the story behind it. Posts are a dime a dozen no matter how much time or effort you put into it. People go on social media for connection and relatability, so if you’re not willing to be open and relatable, people can get that elsewhere. Also, people DO communicate that a painting is not work $xxx, by not buying it. Not every piece of art is valuable to every consumer.

  4. 95% of influencer’s goal is to get their audience to hate themselves so they will buy the things they are promoting. Influencers job is single handedely ruining the mental health of a generation. I’m not sure how you sleep at night knowing you’re a part of the problem but somehow you do!

  5. I think the whole point of the conversation is that US as a society, have given the content influencers create, the value it has and that is why companies pay that much to them. I think about it this way: back when TV was seen by EVERYONE, companies paid MILLIONS to advertise. Now that people look at social media more than TV, the investment has moved to paying influencers. And that is not the influencers fault… if Fault NEEDS to be placed, we can place it in us, the consumers. As far as people being upset that influencers get paid, or flown, or given free stuff, and not teachers, nurses, waiters, guess what? Companies are not going to redirect their marketing budget to those people. That is not going to make them moneyand at the end of the day, they are a company trying to make money. As much is I hate tiktokers doing silly dances at the most appropriate of times, I do not hate or diminish the work that content creators do.

  6. Ty talking about how it’s wrong to call influencers out of touch then go on to list all the ways he is out of touch was honestly annoying. Like think critically doctors do not fly in private jets. Most people do not fly on private jets. Most people work years study years save years and still don’t make it out of the country like please be quiet. If you can’t realize that that means you are out of touch.
