  1. Totally agree that Avatar: The Last Airbender is on the same level as the original Star Wars trilogy and Lord of the Rings.
    It's is one of the greatest tv-shows of all time.
    No, it's not my personal favourite, but if anyone where to argue that it is a better show than any of my other faves, I can't really argue against them (personal favourites are afterall favourites for personal reasons. But from a purely storytelling stand-point, Avatar is probably the top dog when it comes to western produced animated tv-shows).

  3. It's kind of notable that Sokka basically learns all of the non-bending martial forms from every nation. His warrior training in the water nation is supplemented by Earth nation martial arts from the Kyoshi warriors and even fire nation swordsmanship

  4. This is one of my top 3 favorite animated shows of all time, up there with Justice League and Samurai Jack.

    I think the most impressive aspect about this show is how it’s so fun and enjoyable for any kid to watch, and yet the actual themes and layers to the show itself are way deeper than any young child could fully understand at the time. I definitely followed a lot of the themes and progression as a teenager, but over 15 years later I have found so many more ways to appreciate the show. It’s a shame that Legend of Korra never quite hit the highs of its predecessor, but the fact that we got a solid sequel series to such an amazing show is what matters most!

  5. As I remember it hooked me in the first five minutes.

    Also, I'd say its an ensemble cast or in other words I am wussing out of saying who the main character is, they all are. Participation medals all around.πŸ…πŸ…πŸ…πŸ…

  6. Long Ago the Blip Reviewers lived in harmony;
    Then everything changed when Mike Michaud f’d up.
    Only the Block Buster Buster master of fangasms could save the Channel.
    But when the Walker Bros most needed some talent, he vanished.
    A few weeks passed and the other subscribers and I discovered E-Rod’s new channel.
    And though his talent is great, his subscriber numbers have a long way to go before he can save any nostalgia.
    But I believe, E-Rod could save fangasms.

  7. As someone who was there when this show started and watched it all throughout it's original run believe it or not, Avatar actually was NOT celebrated out of the gate as one of the greatest cartoons of all time. It probably is a better experience when you get to binge it and see it evolve over a shorter period of time but Avatar actually did take awhile for people to get a full fondness over it. Heck I remember when the first couple of episodes premiered and people kept comparing it as "Nick's lame attempt at a Samurai Jack esque show" and yeah that reputation eventually did change over time. For some it was the show actually establishing "okay no we have a specific ending goal and stakes this is not going to be able to gon forever" with the reveal of Sozin's comet coming in the Winter Solstice two parter, personally for me it was "The Waterbending Scroll" and "Jet" episodes that made it clear the team cared as much as developing and showing how important and cool Katara and Sokka are then just Aang and for some it was "The Storm"/"The Blue Spirit" full of backstory and good action but yeah eventually it was something everyone was won over to. Like Avatar is the ONLY show I have been into that all my friends were into and watched and loved throughout even those who felt they were too "old" for cartoons. Plus Avatar IMHO is not only a great series but an awesome franchise and quite frankly probably the best franchise created in the 2000's. I mean stuff like the MCU is based on Marvel comics that date back to the 40's/60/80s and 90's for a fair amount of their stories but Avatar was a created universe from the ground up has a lot of good stuff attached to it. Not just ATLA or even Korra but the Graphic novels and books that really expand on the lore and hte universe and fill in a lot of cool gaps. Yeah the live action retellings aren't that good (prove us wrong Netflix prove us wrong) but anything expanding on the world is really good.

    And I appreciate Erod's coverage of the material. I admit I am soooooooooooo used to Toph's VA being credited as Jessica Flower that's always how I associate her but yeah I know that's not her actual name but I appreciate the rest (some of the backstory is a bit off setting up the story also Fire Lord Ozai on the day of Sozin's comet wanted to totally start wrecking the Earth Nation and bath that in fire which yeah would have killed millions probably billiosn but not everyone just… most everyone I guess but that's semantics) especially pointing out how the secret protagonist of the show is Katara (Who BTW notice how her and Sokka's arc are actually parallel to how they start out as characters? Sokka learns to generally be more trustful and opstomistic of the world Katara actually learns more about hardships and betrayal as both grow as people which I think is really cool) and Azula likely gaining inspiration to build her team based on how Aang has his (that and I think Azula figures she can take anyone one on one but didn't want to be grouped on) as well as hinting at one point doing a look back at Korra which Erod has said in the past he also loves and feels gets majorly disrespected so curious to see that but yeah solid review. Still hoping at one point for an Honest review of Ducktales 2017 but eh sure whatever the next one is will be good.

  8. This is one of my favorite shows. Not animated shows. Show. Zuko has the best redemption arc of all time. The animation and fights are amazing. And the characters are fantastic.

    A small thing in the review. The show always humanized the Fire Nation citizens, not just in Season Three. Way back in Season One. The best episode for that would be Jet which makes a point that the Earth Kingdom boy, Jet is the villain, while the Fire Nation citizens are innocent. We constantly saw that the "bad guys" were still people. And the "good guys" weren't always acting for the benefit of the world.
