Homeworld Fleet Command is a competitive tactical miniatures game. The game puts 1-4 players into the role of admirals for either the Kushan or the Taiiidan fleets as they battle for supremacy across the stars. To this end, you will command a wide assortment of ships including squadrons of fighters, corvettes, frigates, destroyers, and devastating capital ships.

5.0 – My absolutely favorite games. You can pry them out of my cold dead hands.
4.5 – Love this game! At the same time missing something that would make it a 5. Could be hard to table, lacking variability, a little light, etc.
4.0 – Really great game, almost always keeping, although has meaningful complaints as to what takes away from the experience.
3.5 – Really enjoyed, don’t love it, may lose out to better games but the idea of never playing again is a bit sad.
3.0 – A good game, would play and suggest with the right people, if I never played it again wouldn’t lose any sleep.
2.5 – A game I’d play again , but will never suggest it myself
2.0 – A game I don’t want to play again
1.5 – A game I can’t find any reason to recommend
1.0 – A game that is just bad.

I just wanted to say that for the first time in my life, I'm the first to comment and this is the most underwhelming achievement I have ever made.
That's because everyone knows the second comment is really where is at!
i am quite tempted by this, as a homeworld fan… ish…
I just don't trust my (fanatic) love for a game when it's converted into a board game . Homeworld is by far one of the best strategic PC game ever. Amazing storyline, soundtrack incredible.
A learn to play guide or tutorial just does not substitute a rule book. These are two very different documents with two very different purposes, one is to initially learn the game and get going and one is to look up or freshen up specific rules questions after you already generally know how to play the game. This is also why a rulebook NEEDS an index, it's not (only) meant to be read cover to cover, but as a quick reference. Baffling that devs as big as Modiphius do this mistake again and again.
This looks tempting, currently sitting on an Early Bird, mass space battles definetly have an appeal, especially if it is cheaper, quicker and easier to get to the table than a space battle tabletop.
Anticipate to not go though with it in the end, though, since it looks like it still competes with other skirmishers, especially Mythic Battles, and that seems to have a more elegant systems without the need for those Activation tokens with its very distinct units and sculpts. The Activation Token system looks both bad on the board, as the tokens break immersion and don't have a place to go, weirdly being in an adjacent hex to the ship or whereever, it also looks very fiddly and annoying. This also looks a bit more bland with the very generic D6-to hit roll-system. Oh, and the minis play not only in another league to Mythic Battle, but a whole other sport, obviously. Sure, there are hundreds of ships, which is cool too, but I'm more quaility over quantity here, and Mythic Battles does have tons of minis, too. Homeworld looks cool, but not cool enough, I think!
And even if, best case, this is as good as Mythic Battles, both games won't get the playtime they deserve.
This doesn’t look or feel like Homeworld at all. It’s missing a lot of the charme (and essential aspects) of the video game
This is very similar to the board game Red Alert, Space Fleet Warfare.
I considered this one but the actual figures look to be rather poor quality. It also really looks to be a 2 player game even though it is advertised as 2-4; so it feels like another CMON Dune where the extra player count may have been tacked onto what should essentially be a 2 player experience.
Instead of X-wing I would propose Star Wars Armada.
While X-wing represent fighter battles, in Armada You command a variety of bigger ships, from small corvetes to a big Imperial star destroyers. Also the actual movement and navigation is a big part of the game. And there's a bunch of ways to upgrade ships too.
As a none native speaker I always have to slow you down to 0.75! 🫤
Boss of Entire Game Industry: "Welcome to the EGI 2023 convention. So, you all did well and followed the last memo asking you to make nothing but zombie games. Now, you seem to be doing well at the space games initiative, but make sure you all make exclusively space based games for the next 12 months. After that, maybe we'll swing back to dungeon crawlers for a bit. Good work, keep it up, and remember, always follow the crowd."
Ty for this video!
It sounds good, but I was distracted for the entire video by the auto-focus making the titles of Great Western Trail and Destinies pulse as Alex moved his hands. 😛
This game absolutely should have gotten custom dice, I think its design lazyness to give us D6 for this. Look at aristeia's dice. Move and shoot is also pretty disappointing aswell
As someone that was late joining the X-wing party (but still got into it before 2nd Edition), some of the 1st Edition sets sell for ridiculous prices these days.
I'm really glad they're giving Airfix Battles a new life with this game. Great system for light-ish wargaming, and this seems like a good fit for it.
ugggh its almost ending and im so fucking tempted alex >: | i already backed andromeda's edge but this is like, a more combat oriented space game.. DO I NEED IT?
3:43 It looks like a unit of 7 to me…
It was finally delivered, I played a few games of Scenario 1 so far. I like it and I get what you mean about lucky attacks, I had two lucky attacks against me successively that wiped out 2 squadrons instantly.
