  1. So something that sucks even harder, is that this story sets you all the way back to the start of Homeworld 1. Your people are stranded far away from their Homeworld, they need to make it there through unfamiliar territory, and the massive network of gates that provided you with FTL at the end of Homeworld 2 are gone so it's going to be a long process full of trials and tribulations…

Isn't it great when sequels just undo what the previous entries did?

  2. You gotta love how the game opens with Imogen going "I invented these new hyperspace cores to free us from outdated mysticism" and then the plot hinges on the mother of all Hail Mary passes, where Karan bets basically all life in the universe on "that five year old I knew once growing up to be a mothership-pilot, being selected as the captain to go after me, AND still remembers the that F***ING LULLABY I used to sing to her"; she might as well have said "Sajuuk's divine providence will see us through."

I don't know, but this story feels like a product of that anti-Chosen One Trope-trend that seemed to be a thing since at least Last Jedi came out. Then again, I could be totally wrong; the game had at least 14 credited writers, so who knows what was going into this story.

  3. I am seriously getting tired of people who don't know or care go out of their way to ruin stories. It's happened to Homeworld, it's happened to Star Wars, it's happened to Star Trek to some extent, along with Fallout and lord knows how many others. It's all so tiresome.

  4. So I agree with Mandalore on literally everything else, but the "mothership is right out in the open" was actually well explained. The Incarnate were swarming over the planetary body looking for Karen's mothership, and the while the Khar Kushan had the exact location of Karen's mothership, they couldn't hyperspace directly to it cause hyperspace interdictors and weren't able to fight their way through the massive Incarnate fleets. Gunning straight for it full throttle wouldn't work either, cause the Incarnate would see their trajectory and would end up reaching Karen first because they were all over the place already.

  5. Really fucking sucks how after 7 months they decided to leave the game to rot, such a disgrace, and Ironic because while Relic Entertainment (the original company) made Company of Heroes 3, they stuck with it and vastly improved the game 2 years after it released, and still are

Meanwhile Blackbird, which is made up of the people that "truly came up with and love Homeworld" decided to cut their losses and basically abandon the game, a precedant that even started Steam looking into creating new protections for people that preorder or get season passes

  6. 1:44 For the first game from a newly formed studio Genesis Rising was VERY ambitious and hearing about what the devs wanted to do and how inexperienced and ramshackle their development process for it was makes me REALLY want a remake of it by them, seriously I think it deserves to be remade.

2:06 IIRC it wasn't by choice, the publisher basically micromanaged them at times and basically hindered what the devs were doing.

  7. Our enemy is an ancient being with countless years of experience in military tactics and politicking—she still falls for the same kind of ploy that Bugs Bunny would use on Elmer Fudd.

  8. 17:16 its cuz the dudebros with no imagination or actual desire to play games like this might not be able to relate if they dont have a human face to look at or a sexy woman to lust after while playing

dont even pretend that this game is for some audiance that exists
    im just sad now
as for the devellopment a gearbox woman came and turned the game into her fanficion and when she got cought she tried to scrub the internet of all the articles and talks with her

  10. Oh boy another game franchise in which i just reject the reality of its existence
smacks head with comically large hammer
Huh? Command and Conquer 4? Homeworld 3? No idea what you are talking about. It sure would have been nice if we got those, but oh well.

  11. I was desperately hoping that it'd reveal that Karen was a new form of the beast that had spent a long time learning about the galaxy and adapting to infect ships in new ways

Still at least it means they can't ruin the beast

  12. I have no clue how Homeworld 3 was marketed nor how their trailers looks like but I bet Homeworld fans got shafted worse then us Dragon Age fans. We had to wait a decade while HW waited 2 decades.
Plus nearly everything about Veilguard was red flags as fast as it was announced. From all the turmoil during development to the shitty trailers and concept art, and Biowares deterioration as a studio, the writing was already on the wall. To me at least, I was already at terms with Veilguard being trash years before its release.
So I don't know if there was just far fewer red flags for Homeworld 3's marketing and maybe even some highlights which gave hope before that hope got crushed by actual game. I just know if I had to wait 20+ years for a DA sequel and not getting any honest looks at the game before release, then I would be actually angry at its state rather than apathetic.

  13. 9:37 I feel that "Space Boat" could have more design variation. Like imagine having different kinds of that look that take inspiration from certain eras, like say Pre-Dreadnought/Belle Èpoque style for example. Imagine what a starship drawing heavy inspiration from a Pre-Dreadnought Battleship would look like against a starship drawing heavily from Post-Dreadnought design… Or in the case of the SBSY mostly an actual Post-Dreadnought Battleship in Space.

  14. This is the pain I've been waiting for. Also at this point I wish the Turanics had hit the dock before they left…

1:00:29 "Quick! Kill off the last surviving link to of the original series! It's the only way to save our insufferable, barely-sentient Ms. Potato Face"

  15. sorry this is really out of place but i have no idea where else to ask this do you have any specific place where you take reaction suggestions? or is it just whatever looks interesting in your comments?

this is the wrong video to say this but i've been watching (and thoroughly enjoying) the kirby reactions and wanted to suggest a next step in a way that isn't "vtuber!!! watch this thing!!!!!! NOW !!!!!"

  16. 10:05 A good, distinctive silhouette is essential for telling what something is at a glance without having to waste much time identifying something. For a ship this is very important because if you're unfamiliar with a ship-class or you somehow misID a Destroyer as some type of Cruiser you end up in a situation where you are the Japanese at Samar thinking the force of Destoryers and Escort Carriers being used as glorified transports are a force of Cruisers and Fleet Carriers…

As an aside, UAD can let you design ships that purposely look like another type. Such as, a Battlecruiser that visually looks like a Heavy or Light Cruiser or Battleship that looks like a Battlecruiser.

  17. The villain is just the worse thing ever. "I am insecure and lonely so i try to commit genocide, please feel bad for me". And the good guys are also led by an insecure Mary Sue. Also fun tidbit, a part of why the writing team is so big is because it was changed and the original story scrapped in favor of this. And considering the writing team that took the reins is apparently the guys behind Borderlands 3's story (which is ALSO a dumpster fire introducing people to the most insufferable brat ever put on screen and having the plot bend over backwards to coddle that character) and that the late arrival meant they had to rush to make the new story, its no wonder it ended the way it did (and its also probably why the game was delayed). Basically, Gearbox decided to meddle in here when they should have stayed the hell away.

Also feel like its not gonna take "a few years" for wargames to become a solo experience… its already becoming that what with gearbox having already dropped support for the game, less than a year after release and with a last middle fingers to the franchise by cramming the taiidan (with a MUCH reduced ship roster) and the Somtaaw (with a SINGLE ship from their original game that isnt even able to do what it did in a 24 years old game and otherwise just being the base game faction with a few tweaks and a new frigate that never existed in cataclysm and just uses the normal hiigaran frigate design) into wargames and wargames only.

  18. I don’t think the ending of Witch from Mercury was that bad, but I do really think it needed one or two more episodes of breathing room to set up that part of the twist, and to make events paced out a bit more. It suffered from the 13 episode season structure because another season would have been too much, but as is it feels like it wraps up decently but drops a few threads along the way

  19. Only positive thing I can say about this story is that nitpicking each scene makes them feel worse than they would be in vacuum since main reason each of them come across as that bad is because story as whole has so many baffling or bad moments, so in theory some of the writing decisions COULD have worked in completely different context that isn't here.

Yeah there isn't really anything positive to say about story itself besides "some of those ideas or scenes could have been salvaged in completely different story"

  20. 24:02 This track never fails to give me chills and tears to my eyes…

24:22 Yeah, I'm kind of disappointed in HW3's soundtrack… I mean Strike Suit: Zero has a more "Homeworld" feel to it and that's a separate franchise that… Also had Paul Ruskay doing the music for it… I can only imagine that the difference in music is because of how someone else, someone who didn't know the feel for Homeworld's music, directed Paul Ruskay to do something different from the previous games…

  21. 46:33 actually i would say the Warhammer guide the authors had was pretty vague up until when the Horus heresy book line was nearing an end. The most consistent out there for that kind of franchise in my opinion is from Halo since every writer is given the "Halo Bible" basically a pretty detailed guideline to write the books wich make the books much more consistent than the games in some aspects actually

  22. 26:29 If you want something oddly familiar watch Mandalore's vid on Metal Arms Glitch in the System, and you'll probably get what I mean by "oddly familiar" after examining that game's story… And something shown within the first few minutes.
