‘70’s had the BEST MUSIC!
I loved this ALBUM in the 80's, i was in HIGH SCHOOL, great times, miss the 80's
Nobody writes or plays music like this anymore. There are a lot of great artist out there but very few compare to the bands that came out of the 70's and some from the early 80's and they did it without all of the technical advantages that the bands of today have.
————– contrast in quality of this period vs the utter garbage being churned out on an assembly line today is stark. This band, and this era was still crafting music, vs the elementary school rhymes in hiphop, and you'd be lucky if you got more than 1 continuous chord in today's music.
Ironically , Kerry Livgren , the man who wrote most of Kansas' music and lyrics, is a born-again Christian, this powerful song should in fact say it all>✝
The guy you mentioned at the first with the long hair is a Christian and that is why this song has a spiritual feel. Point of No Return another cool song by them.
Yes. Yes it is.
Great song forevermore! How about another banger, Ten Years After, “I’d Love to Change the World”. Alvin Lee rocked the song!🎶🎶🎶
They were having so much fun too! Thanks for sharing it. 🙂
The '70s – the best of times, the worst of times. The music fell under the former.
When I hear this song, I am reminded of this: In the 1977 film "Heroes" starring Henry Winkler as a disturbed Vietnam veteran and Sally Field (and featuring a pre Star Wars Harrison Ford), this song is played at the dramatic closing scene.
I hear all these reactions to this and Dust in the Wind but no one says anything about thier early music. I was wtationed at Ft Riley in 1974. Kansas played in bars in Junction City, Manhattan and Lawrence KS, all within a hundred miles of each other. They wereworking out thier sound but were still great live.
I really hope you do Point of No Return. I am sure you will love it as well. Great reaction.
Kansas at their Best
GWAR !!
This is my favorite song by them it's definitely a jam
album was "Leftoverture". another great song off this album, and there are many, is "Miracles out of Nowhere". hope you go down this rabbit hole, it's a deep one. Progressive music before it was even called that.
Among the best of 70s. Pure rock.
The band Boston done some good music at the same time
I saw Kansas live twice, thirty years apart, and they were absolutely phenomenal both times. RIP to Robby Steinhardt. ✌🏼😎🇺🇸
To the point of no return! you’ll live it!
Reminds me of when my dad would pick me up in his Mustang with him drinking a Pabst Blue Ribbon (it was legal then) and just sitting back and enjoying the ride! ❤
Kansas was one of those rare groups whose live performances sounded even better than the studio versions.
Keep pushing. There will be time enough to sleep, when I'm dead.
Do an album review of Leftoverture. It’s a masterpiece. Stay authentic.
The 70’s are full of gems. Happy hunting! Hope someone recommends Atlanta Rhythm section or climax blues band
I kinda group Kansas with Boston. Heavy guitar, organ, and harmonies.
So many hooks in one song.
When the Leftoverture album was completed the record company told the band that they need one more song that could be their single. Kerry went home and came back with this song.
The rest is history.
An absolutely virtuoso piece of music and a true masterpiece, not just in the rock genre, but in ANY genre. Easily one of the greatest songs of my lifetime.
So always associate this with Supernatural now.
As good as this song and 'Dust In The Wind' are (their two biggest hits), they are not totally accurate guides to what Kansas primarily were, a prog rock band. Next time you delve into Kansas, try "Magnum Opus" or "Journey From Mariabronn" or "Song For America". They will give you an idea of the awesome prog talent of this great band.
I heard this song and went straight out and bought 'Leftoverture' and have loved Kansas ever since….48 years now but they have been around much longer and are still touring, albeit with a much changed line up!
It's from the album Leftoverture, released in 1976. Leftoverture & Song For America (1975) are their two best albums.
He definitely knew this song well, was singing along
It's called progressive rock…………… American progressive rock…………
Can’t listen to this song without thinking about 2 certain brothers in a 4 door black impala
Song For America is their Magnum-Opious! So good. Try it
Tell me you've never watched Supernatural without telling me you've never watched Supernatural.
I love the "Dream Theatre-ish" progressive bridge breakdown
Another Kansas you would like is Portrait/He Knew, check it out
