  1. It could be lore based, in that you could say this more armored Orion was influenced by Bretonnia during one of the wars or battles where they helped the wood elves. He saw how despite the heavy armors and bardings, both Knight and steed were incredibly mobile and deadly and he wished to adapt a similar style for his own armies. Perhaps before this version of Orion was chosen, they could have lived or spent more time towards that edge of the forest. Made sense from a lore perspective since what I have read of Bretonnia is they worked with the wood elves a few times and with Orion being a cav lord in game.
