  1. It all started out with valid concerns. ANd that's the point, whether it ends up true or not, voicing concerns is never wrong. Concerns have to be respected and talked about. And then coming to a solution or compromise is the result of that.
And some points that come are not entirely wrong. Like Goblins having a racist heritage. I personally think that the fantasy goblin has long evolved past that heritage and this heritage is no longer, for decades, the reason why goblins are picked in fantasy universes for certain roles and functions.

The core problem is, that we have no healthy culture of debating problems at the moment. It is either my side or your side. And if you are not fully on my side, you are the enemy. And that's the literal phrasing used. Allies and enemies. It's not people with different opinions sharing a discussion, it's enemies in a warzone.

And that's just not a healthy base to have. Especially not in a humanistic and egalitarian society or one that tries to be one. It is in actuality a very dogmatic and authoritarian way to handle disagreements.
Another thing is very important to note. The vast majority of the trans-community is at least just as annoyed by this whole thing than most of us are. These people pushing this … hatred … forward are extremists. On either side. People who now buy multiple copies of the game just to piss off trans-people are just as extreme and minboggling dumb as those people calling everyone racist / transphobe who plays the game. And we have to remember that these are relatively small groups. They are just screaming the loudest, and with how social media works, the loudest have the best chance to have their content spread the furthest.

Remember, both extreme sides are idiotic. The extremists are also not helping either side. The idiots completely digging into the transphobia, buying multiple copies and hating on the trans-community are pushing non-extreme people further into the extreme opinions of the "activists" hating on the game and on people liking the game, while the extreme-"activists" are pushing otherwise moderate people into the hands of the transphobic community or into a mindset that stopped caring at all, which is just as bad.

See, the main goal, equality and freedom of choice. The basic egalitarian and humanistic principles are shared by the vast majority in this debate. The vast majority agrees on this, but are now dragged into a conflict in which the simple enjoyment of a game puts you in the corner of fascists. And if you start to push people, there's a point at which people push back and stop just taking it.

This whole thing is literally not helping anyone. It's making everything worse by proposing the idea that our society has to be seperated in idealistic groups that have no leniency for even the smallest deviance. This is extreme behavior.

I have a friend, who is making terribly racist jokes. Not just about others, but to a great deal himself. I know that he's not a racist, not at all. He's the leftiest lefty you can find. With all humanistic and egalitarian ideals you could ever wish for. For some reason, his humor is just that way. In the eyes of these activists, he'd be a full blown racist, even though his actions and him speaking up when seeing racism in public would prove different. But actions don't matter.

Only singular perception matters. Yes, singular perception. If you've at one point argued against one of these extremist-activists you'd become their enemy. Even if you agree or show sympathy with them or show them how your opinions at their core actually very much align, you are an enemy. Because your first interaction was perceived at hostile by them.

And now think that further. What does this mean when it comes to criticism? Because you can criticise people you share opinions with. For example, because their methods are off or counterproductive. Or because their way of argueing is. Criticism is perceived as hostile. As opposing. As something only "the enemy" does. Because, if you're an ally, you'd agree, wouldn't you?
I don't think the Soviets and Allies agreed on many things. Actually I'm quite sure of it, because after they defeated the 3rd Reich, their relationship can be summarized with two words: "Cold War" But during WW2 the political differences didn't matter, because there was a bigger threat. If they'd been busy fighting each other, while fighting the 3rd Reich, they might've lost.
The point is, reaching a true egalitarian society with ideals based in humanism is so much more important than which game anyone plays. And hating on people playing the game, literally shouting and screaming at them, some of which even completely unaware of the controversy, because I was. I didn't know about it until someone was pissed at me for getting the game and enjoying it. That's when I caught on to the whole ting.

Because, quite frankly, I had more important things to do, then keeping up with this. Which is funny, because I work in the social field. And a major part of my work is literally "inclusivity". To help that everybody, no matter who they are, what they identify as can feel as being part of the society and feel safe while being themselves around anyone. That's literally like one of the most important things of my job.

But as it seems, that doesn't matter. Because I play the game. So now I am transphobic and racist. I wouldn't say I am. But who am I to judge myself?

Anyhow, to make a long story short. It may have begun with valid concerns, but ironically it turned into a witchhunt.

  2. If you truly want to avoid everything made by someone with objectionable opinions, or by people who have done wrong, you might as well throw out every game, book and movie ever made.

These people who hold themselves in high moral standards today will be seen as monsters in fifty years time. And it'll keep happening forever.

  3. The irony is…there’s a trans character in the game. She runs the Three Broomsticks and she’s a total sweetheart and a very powerful witch. It’s almost like the people who made this game aren’t entirely beholden to Rowlings beliefs. It’s her world but she wasn’t involved in developing it at all.

  4. The "moral and tolerant" mask of the authoritarian left has REALLY been slipping in the last 3-4 years.

Isn't it kinda funny though how all those gaming journalists who went to the trouble of literally conspiring in secret chatrooms and mailing lists to coordinate a narrative against "toxic misogynist gamers" back in 2013 with GG, ostensibly to protect a single female game dev from harassment, have nothing at all to say about female streamers and community managers get harassed by toxic social justice warriors just for playing or being excited about a game? Correction: They don't have nothing at all to say. They're DEFENDING THE HARASSERS.

EDIT: Hogwarts Legacy revealed nothing about games journalists – or contemporary journalists in general – that anyone who was paying attention during Gamergate didn't already know. Journalistic integrity hasn't existed for 20 years or more, if it ever really existed at all.

EDIT2: Don't forget about Pikamee, who was harassed into shutting down her stream after she mentioned she'd be playing HL, and then went offline for almost two weeks.

  5. Honestly both sides in this situation have acted like a bunch of children. One side throwing a fit because they didn't get their way and the other side being a bunch of assholes to people already constantly being painted as child predators and sub human it's one thing to buy a game because you wanna play it but it's something different if you only buy a game just to make the other group feel like shit that makes you an asshole.

  6. You what I don’t understand, how tf has the word phobia been twisted so bad that they think millions are afraid of them. I don’t like anybody but not afraid of anyone. The absolute stupidity of it all is unsurpassed

  7. Bought it, don't care…Call me whatever. J.K. is a transphob. On the other hand J.K. had absolutely nothing to do with Legacy. This entire thing is like saying boycott Disney because Walt was a racist.

  8. Didn't like the game very much but not for the unhinged reasons mentioned in the video. It just feels kinda boring and lifeless. It's basically Harry Potter X Assassin's Creed where the open world is just decorative dressing. It's a fine game overall, I just like more depth and immersion in open world RPGs i.e. Morrowind, Witcher 3, Elden Ring, KCD, Fable Lost Chapters etc…

  9. This backfiring on them pleases me to no end.

Also, since some of these fuckers clearly need to hear it: ahem I DON'T CARE WHAT'S BETWEEN YOUR LEGS OR WHO YOU WANNA FUCK. NOBODY WHO MATTERS CARES ABOUT WHAT'S BETWEEN YOUR LEGS OR WHO YOU WANNA FUCK. IT'S NONE OF MY GODDAMN BUSINESS OR ANYONE ELSE'S FOR THAT MATTER. LET ME PLAY A FUN WIZARD GAME AND LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE. Have a nice life and talk to me again about all this shit never.

  10. one of the best games I've played in YEARS. it's funny to see the snowflakes come out because someone doesn't agree with a life choice. just as she has her right others have theirs so who is trying to push their agenda on who here? if u want to be trans be trans if u want to be a dog be a dog. doesn't mean everyone has to agree with you. it doesn't make them anti anything just means they wouldn't do it themselves. or that's how I view it. WE LOVE YOU JKR

  11. I bought the deluxe version & getting it on steam soon. I will also watch the show! This is really a product of cancel culture joining the Trans community. This game literally allows you to be a she/he he/she, cross dresser literally whatever you want. They're just trying to literally force personal opinions & beliefs on the average person by reporting any account even playing this game. Apparently they believe in freedom of beliefs but if you don't share the same interests you're automatically a bad person.

  12. JKR isn't enacting anything. she's tarnishing her legacy, pure and simple. Imposing YOUR morality on others is like, the trans communities biggest issue, isn't it? And here they're doing it to those of us who enjoyed the books and want to play the game. They're acting like we're handing JKR $$ and she's using it to hire people to harass them. It's exhausting theatrics that does little more than increase THEIR own streaming income.

The JKR "empire" may be tainted by her opinion, which only leads inquiring minds to wonder about HER sexuality, and shallow minds to fits of laughter or rage. The body of her work does not promote her agenda, if anything it highlights the evils of practicing separatism and superiority complexes.

The Harry Potter Universe is a separate entity from JKR, at this point. Thousands of people's livelihood are involved. As soon as she comes out of the closet, can we all move on? If not that, what about when she dies of old age and her universe continues on, like the Tolkien and others whose classic tales become timeless.

  14. We would have no art & entertainment to enjoy if it required us to agree 100 on every position and statement uttered. Some of the greatest artists of all time were also massive asshats. The lack of logic or critical thinking of the cancel culture crew has been laid bare for all to see by a video game. Hazza gamers!

  15. Whats funny is they called for a boycott of the game, but not Amazon, HBO, Ebay, Barnes and Noble, Walmart, Grocery Stores, stores in general that sell Hogwarts stuff, yes their hypocrisy is stupid.

  17. I am playing the game, I love it, I advertise for it and… I don't give a dusty F about what some people might think about it! I started gaming on a Sega Megadrive, and I have had a lot of fun all those years, especially being amazed by how consoles have evolved. We are now witnessing games that we were not even dreaming about back then! And now, a bunch of people try to make gaming about politics?!?!?!
Leave us alone, gaming is about having fun and for some, evading for an hour or two the struggles of real life.
    This game is awesome!!!!!!

Thank you for this content it helps highlight the silly identity politics that only hurt my ability to quietly live my life nor not harming anyone

  19. I love this video because it attacks the ill logic and ill reasoning of the other side and shows how little and immature this whole thing is and in JK defense nothing she has said has killed or hurt anyone no one has gone on a rampage or hate filled trans holocaust to condemn against trans people. and at the end of it all nothing has changed all the other side They still get to love who they love and be who they want to be the same should be for the Gamers who love harry potter and the wizarding world. we wouldnt have to be judged against for loving this intellectual property no different then letting trans be who they are and at the end of that too we dont care about your lifestyle so you shouldnt have to care about ours either. i mean Seriously your hard pressed over a "video Game" not the Books or even the Movies just this Current to Recent Game that just Launched and look what it shows who you are the same people who are judgemental and hyprocritcal and prejudice because of a group of people who love what they love or just simply Play

  20. About the final point. Corpos only care about one thing at the end of the day and that's $$$
This game made the most money, boycott be damned, it's gonna get something.
Also, not too long after the initial claim of no dlc someone else came out saying something along the lines of "we want to fix the game on and get it on every platform first before dlc production"
Games gonna get dlc at the least, a full on sequel even maybe.

  21. This is a great game. If it contributes to transphobia I don't care. I've enjoyed around 35 hours of hogwarts legacy now and would invite everyone to play this game and enjoy it. The transgenghis are just going to have to put a sock in it.

  22. On a much deeper level, this game's success shows the waning power of woke. They wanted this, and they needed this to fail. But it didn't people are sick of the cancel culture. Nothing is preventing anyone from supporting or not supporting gay's transgender And nothing is going to prevent someone from not supporting gays or transgenders from now on. It's just a personal choice. The big secret is that it always has been their choice. People just haven't been allowed to say what they think. You really haven't won the intellectual argument if you have a knife to their throat.
