Hive City Tertium | Warhammer 40,000

The Darktide threatens to overwhelm the Moebian Domain. But the most critical battle to preserve this vital bastion of the Imperium will not be fought in some distant theater of war. It will be won or lost within the city of Tertium.

  1. Tertium looks quite tame (architecture wise) compared to necromunda. At least comparing hired gun to darktide. Larger corridors etc. Necromunda is so cramped it's almost claustrophobia.

  2. It's really amazing how much of a messed up urban ecosystem this is – I wonder if they consulted an urbanist or an architect and asked them to produce the most hellish urban configuration possible

  3. I like how the main antagonist is a traitor regiment rather than more marines. Its good to show that even normal human chaos as a grave threat to the galaxy even without marines.

  4. I doubt we'd ever get to see inside the spires; The cult is very well intrenched within the lower hive, but most of the upper hive is garrisoned by the planetary defence force stopping the cult from progressing further up the city, the front line is pretty much the train station at the entrance to the upper hive as well as a nearby hab zone – so only two maps; One map is set in the outskirts and one in the under hive, with all the rest set in the lower city.

Interesting thing I noticed about the outskirts map was the presence of Dark age of technology architecture; completely different from that of the Imperium, gone are the gothic spires and imperial iconography, replaced instead with the ruins of arching habitation domes, broken ancient environmental equipment and plain brutalist concrete architecture… all covered over with the more recent ruins of Imperial outposts, shrines and corrugated iron shanty towns common to the under hive – all abandoned as the desert has taken over the area, now occupied by cultists with an ancient broadcast tower from pre-imperial Tertium at the end of it, with traces of what the original city looked like thousands of years ago.

  5. oh feth me, did the narrator fall to N*rgl$?
Nothing for it but to grab my shovel, lash my lumen lamp to my flashlight and light up the backstreets of Tertium with the Emperor's mercy.
    PRAISE THE OMNISSIAH!
