This video follows on from Part 1 as we continue our journey to visit the most beautiful and memorable historical cities in the UK. In this video we will be visiting Salisbury, Shaftsbury, Stratford upon Avon, York, Winchester and finally London. Please click the link at the end if you would like to continue following me on my journey throughout the UK to move onto the next destination.

Our first stop is at Salisbury a medieval town in Wiltshire known for its 13th century Cathedral which has a 123-metre spire, inside there is housed one of the original copies of the Magna Carta. Salisbury is a lovely town to visit and in its historical streets you can find an array of shopping delights, restaurants and a charter market which is popular with visitors and locals alike.

Shaftsbury is our next destination, located in Dorset it is a small market town which has a history dating back to Saxon times. The most famous street is the easily recognised ‘Gold Hill’ which became a much-loved landmark following the filming of the Hovis advert. It is possible to admire beautiful views over the Blackmore vale whilst enjoying its array of tea shops and other attractions.

Stratford upon Avon situated on the River Avon in Warwickshire is the next stop and world famous for being the birthplace of William Shakespeare who is the most celebrated writer in the English language particularly well known for his sonnets including ‘Hamlet’ and ‘Romeo and Juliet’. It is a bustling little town which is surrounded by history and culture.

York is next and my home city so obviously I’m very biased when I say I feel it’s one of the most beautiful places in the UK. There is so much to do in York, take a walk on the city walls, explore the Shambles a historical street with historical buildings which almost seem to touch as they overhang, take a river cruise down the Ouse or simply enjoy the great museums, gardens or shopping opportunities and restaurants in the city. Just make sure you book enough time here!

Winchester in the county of Hampshire is next, particularly known for its medieval 17th century Cathedral and the Great Hall which is home to King Arthurs round table one of the greatest symbols of medieval mythology. Other attractions include the City Mill, Marwell Zoo and very popular South Downs way. There are endless possibilities to explore here and the perfect combination of countryside and city life.

Finally, we come to London, the capital city of England and brimming with attractions to keep you entertained from the Houses of Parliament to Westminster Abbey to a cruise along the River Thames to the tranquil suburb of Greenwich where mean time is measured. The London eye offers a bird’s eye view over the city and of course a visit to the Queens residence at Buckingham Palace is a must. London theatre is legendary from musicals to shows to music events there really is something for everyone.

I hope you have enjoyed this video, if you would like any further information on the places visited, please visit the official website links below and if you would like to continue following me on my journey throughout my native country of the UK remember to click on the link at the end to continue to the next destination.
