HFY is a story/series that takes a “human element” in either humanity or an “other” (race/species or object) that exists in a “setting” (future or other world/universe) with varying levels of culture, technology, society and history that help show in some shape or form the potential good or bad for humanity’s race/culture. In These stories Humans are often referred to as Human, Humanity, Deathworlder, Hellwolder in reference to the human planet of origin , Earth. This planet is seen by most of the universe as a place where only death and chaos can survive.

Humans Are Space Orcs (HASO) or Humans Are (Fantasy Race) Are used as a guide when writing.
In these Stories we normally View humans like the other races view orcs in a Fantasy Novel. We (Humans) share the same characteristics and personalities as orcs. Humans are normally treated as the outsiders and barbarians. Humans tend to be underestimated as well in these stories. Unlike Humanity Feck Yea , these don’t always put a positive spin on humanshumanity sometimes looking at the darker side of human and humanity from the perspective of aliens.

  2. The second story about humans with plasma axes and mag lock drop pods is the second one with the same premise. Are these stories part of a loosely tied series where humans drop pod down on planet, viking their way through and then eat the monsters ? 😀

  3. My Cousin Vinny would be proud. I'm actually a semi retired physician, with a family tradition of killimln…sorry, mistype, healing people (when the stars properly align and the entrails read favorably). My father's house was a hospital, the other hospital in the town was my uncle's house. They'd compete who'd done more surgery per month. I saw my first gallbladder at 6yo, standing on a stool next to Dad in my house, while Grandpa ran anesthesia and mom handled the instruments. No, mom never went to nursing school. She just got taught OR nursing and stuff by other family.
    Yeah, there's something to be said for long family traditions. In fact, I draw my own blood and have even done minor surgery on myself with no assistance though I m am internist and retired prof of medicine and biochem. That's when I discovered that the hand gestures for tying knots on some one else were the mirror opposite of on myself. That was fun, alone in my office not being able to close the hole properly…it still has a tiny opening a decade later.
    My colleagues used to call us the Addams family.
    Tremble at the thought such like me are not only around, but never been sued.

  7. Being a sometime hotrodder I appreciated the first story, most of the modifications done to the reactor sounded like things people actually do to engines. Darwin, my little white wagon actually has an Edelbrock intake manifold.
