The wilderness doesn’t care about likes or followers on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or any other platform. It doesn’t care about anything at all—but it will take everything from those who don’t give it their full attention. The following stories are cautionary tales that if you give your social media accounts more attention than safety, you are playing with fire.

The sailing couple had replaced the diesel engine with an electric motor? I wonder if the engine caught fire. These fires are not uncommon in boats. Even EVs have been catching fire. Maybe the Theros caught fire due to something going wrong with the batteries. These fires are catastrophic hard to put out. Doesn't seem like they would have had much time to escape. My guess the boat burned quickly, completely and sank. RIP to the couple.
Nature cares for me and loves me 😂
Desperately starved for attention and lacking basic happiness makes people act stupid.
Pointless
That picture of the two red dot's flying off the cliff is hilarious.
Plenty of tragedies to choose from on this one
To get his phone. . .What honestly is wrong with people?
Darwinism is a strong force.
So drugs weren't in their system? Oh gee only ethyl alcohol the deadliest drug! No sympathy.
Throughout history people have done stupid sh …and it normally just end there. Its just now that we have the ability share it with other, entice them to do the same or compete with whatever stupid sh … that one would post. "Follower" is a stupid term used by the social media creator to make the site owner seems superior than they really are. Christ is whom you should "follow", not the social media "influencers" whatever that means.
Just the pictures make my stomach churn!😮
2 ego driven fools, so desperate for validation, giving advice to their followers about safety, when they themselves had alcohol taken.
Where is the line between safety and personal responsibility, though?
If safety barriers and or signs are available, beyond that lies with the people who choose to ignore them.
It IS sad, but it is also very much on the table when you choose to forgo safety.
RIP to all of these folk 🙏🏼
Also: Gigi climbed, not her bikini 👏🏼👍🏼🫡
Very tragic
Just picked up a catalyst 22 for my EDC- love it
My dads best friend died falling at the grand canyon
There is WAY TOO MUCH NARRATION on these videos.
"courage as currency.' Excellent!
When you split between survival and vanity you might as well turn your back on both. what a great sentence
nothing worse than trying to spot animals birds with loud mouth vanity hunter. you will see nothing with a brain cell.
Congratulations on reaching 100 K subscribers. Well deserved and thank you!
That first couple was adorable sorry about the loss
Do you write for “Sports Illustrated”? Because the narration on the bikini climber (Gigi Wu) lifted entire passages from a 2020 article written about her.
Thank you J.R.! What a nice surprise!! 😊 I can't get over these people! 🤔 Yikes!! Talk about misplaced priorities!! Oh well — to each his/her own I guess. Thanks again!! 🌺
All these people were phenomenal fly high all of you
The urge to get the perfect photo is a very old urge so I wouldn’t put that down to social media. Wartime and political unrest photographers have been killed, animal photographers mauled to death or fallen out of trees, sat in the most uncomfortable of places far too long to get their desired shot. It is just that way. Every time a great photo gets produced and praised it encourages the next one. Those photos are amazing and of course people want more so that encourages the photographer to get closer. They sacrifice themselves for their passion. The whirlpool horse stunt was bloody crazy tho. The sailing couple were just using social media, they weren’t driven to be influencers.
not "with revered tones." With reverent tones, if you must.
at 12:36. "the visitors reported the scene at Taft Point, and were reported missing…." which means that the visitors who reported it were reported missing. You need an editor.
I think Jacob was trying to do a scene in Bojack Horseman.🤔
Ive almost been knocked over by wind gusts walking downtown. No way im standing on the edge of a building.
No empathy at all for these egomaniac people. They want to die for a selfie, it's their problem. No way !
“FOR THA GRAAAAAAaaaaaammmmm…..
So did anything happen to the subjects in this video? I stopped listening after an hour of descriptions about their hair…
It's a damn shame that the wilderness, never gets name checked….
One thing they all have in common, besides stupidity, is that it's only a matter of time…..
This guy talks way to much to paint the story. Lost me 😢
EGO K I L L S
There were 325.5 million visitors to US National Parks in 2023 and on average 385 visitors die of various causes. Works out to 0.000001% of visitors die. This is visitor deaths of all causes, fewer still die of thrill seeking. I don’t mean to be cold, but how far do you go to protect a small group of people who push the boundaries of safety? Put up rails? They will jump them. Fences? They will climb them. Again, not being cold, but what cost, financial and environmental, should we pay for so few individuals?
I will admit to feeling somewhat irritated by such individuals though. So they love to get out there and live life to the fullest and do it full throttle, right? But when their actions put them in danger do they say “well I was living life to the fullest and doing it full throttle, so I guess I’ll take whatever I have coming!” Crap no. They put others lives in danger by calling emergency services and saying hey come get me out of the mess I have gotten myself in. I find that a tad hypocritical.
Lets get drunk and get near the edge of a cliff..what could go wrong?
I am so thankful to have lived most of my life (I'm Gen X) before the advent of social media. The pressure to create content for attention, likes, and clicks is an inescapable prison. Freedom is in the shunning of social media.
