Higher airfare costs after net zero fuel taxes hit UK airlines

Sky News host Caroline Marcus has reacted to the prospect of soaring flight costs as a result of net zero fuel taxes in the UK.

The new charge, which was introduced on January 1, requires airlines to fill their planes with at least two per cent green fuel.

“A new net zero flight tax in the UK could add hundreds of dollars a year to the cost of flights, including for Australians travelling overseas,” Ms Marcus said.

“Yet again these governments seem to care more about this warm fuzzy feeling of appearing to do the right thing for the environment … at the expense of its people’s budgets.”

  27. Paying a tax wont save the environment. I remember they said the foreshore would lose it beach while i was in school. Still exact same. They said in the 80s. We would be doom at the rate we were at. Hello? We are still here 😂

  29. The global warming religion, if only all the extra taxes just applied to disciples of Pope Al Goose Gore.
    Presumably the rate of these taxes would then have to increase, there are after all only so many narcissists indoctrinated with the hubris of wanting to 'save the planet'.
